SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) The president of the University of Sioux Falls is suing Delta Airlines over an incident last fall that ended with him spending a night in a New York jail.

--sounds like he can't use the "passing through" defense against NYC and it's disappointing that Delta feels it necessary to do the notification that they apparently did----
--also disappointing that someone so astute as a university head wouldn't be more up to speed on state firearms laws and the problems associated therewith---
Why is Delta advising the police when a passenger is doing something that, as far as the airline would have any reason to be aware, is perfectly legal?
Delta hasn’t survived this long without being as Fed-friendly as possible....
Because they’ve swallowed the kool-aid lie that the police have been encouraging: there are only lawbreakers and lawbreakers who haven’t been caught. [/cynic]
The sad truth is that the presumption of innocence has been all but eliminated; there are, I think, two main factors: 1) that juries are instructed that they MUST declare on the side of the law (being kept unaware of the power of nullification) and not allowed to ‘think’ about how [higher] laws might preclude the charged-law’s validity, and 2) that people-in-general have been taught that those in authority are right (circularly, by virtue of being in a position of authority) and to submit to whatever demands are placed on them [esp TSA].
“It it is illegal to possess a firearm in New York unless the gun owner is a New York resident with a state and local concealed carry permit.”
“the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Until someone forces NY to follow the constitution, I will not be traveling there!
When he declared the firearm, as required by the Transportation Security Administration and Delta Airlines policy, to the Delta ticket agent at La Guardia on Oct. 2, however, the airline took notice, notifying the New York-New Jersey Port Authority Police that they had a passenger who had declared a firearm.
Lucky for him, the charge has been dropped and expunged from his record.
Just one more reason to stay out of LaGuardia airport. Horrible, horrible place.
Use to fly in/out of there on a regular basis. There is a small building by the Delta terminal the muzzies use for their prayers. Everytime I’d return they’d be out there with their rugs. Gives you a nice warm feeling to see that before getting on a plane.
NYS residents are not issued CCW's UNLESS they are LEO's, former LEO's, or very well connected politically. If you carry a weapon for protection, you take the chance that the cops will get you (NY Cops and Department of Corrections are one of the biggest public workers unions in the state, and look to generate business). If you don't carry a weapon, you take the chance that the "urban" residents will take you out...
Not interested in NYS at all. Judging from the number of NY retirees that are taking their pensions and moving out, a lot more ex-NYers seem to share my view...
