Obama: The 'Weaknesses In Our Economy' Are Due to Cuts in State and Local Gov't By Fred Lucas June 8, 2012
(CNSNews.com) President Barack Obama said today that the private sector is doing fine but that the economy is suffering because of cuts in state and local government.
The private sector is doing fine, Obama said at a press conference on Friday. Where were seeing weaknesses in our economy, have to do with state and local government -- oftentimes, cuts initiated by governors or mayors who are not getting the kind of help that they have in the past from the federal government and who dont have the same kind of flexibility as the federal government in dealing with fewer revenues coming in.
State and local leaders were not the only ones to blame for a bad economy, as the president also blamed Republicans in Congress.
If Republicans want to be helpful, if they really want to move forward, and put people back to work, what they should be thinking about is, How do we help state and local governments and how do we help the construction industry? Obama said. Because the recipes that theyre promoting are basically the kinds of policies that would add weakness to the economy, would result in further layoffs, would not provide relief in the housing market, and would result I think most economists would estimate in lower growth.
Obamas remarks about not enough state employees comes the same week that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, survived a union-backed recall election because he curbed some of the state employee benefits and collective bargaining rules. Walker won the recall by a 9 percent margin, 54 to 45 percent.

When you realize that Obama’s only frame of reference is that “Government IS the economy” you understand his thinking.
He's a red diaper baby...they can't think for themselves. They are robots (take a look into the eyes of Valerie Jarrett).
The answer is always more government.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Did he take any economics classes in college? What kind of grades did he get? Oh...I forgot. That is none of our business.
Yet, he is still popular. Go figure.
The hosts are doing fine. The vampires are suffering.
The weakness in our economy is because we have a FOREIGN president with FOREIGN ideologies that don’t work for America. The reason there is so much division in Congress is because Democrats are no longer Americans.
It definitely is mixed signals, and confused calls that are coming out of the WH. Absolutely correct, he thinks the Gov’t IS the economy. And some of us think it should be cut back and be smaller. So I’d say we’re having success!
How stupid is obama?
Does he not understand that the private sector funds the state and local govt?
If the private sector is doing fine, then enough tax revenue would be generated to allow states to meet current payroll.
HOW DOES HE NOT GRASP THIS?
No the cuts in government are because of the first class idiot who is flailing in the Oval Office screwing up our economy almost to the point of where it can't be repaired.
“’The private sector is doing fine,’ Obama said at a press conference on Friday. ‘Where were seeing weaknesses in our economy, have to do with state and local government — oftentimes, cuts initiated by governors or mayors who are not getting the kind of help that they have in the past from the federal government’”
Truly, there is not a facepalm big enough to post for this level of economic ignorance. Not even Godzilla’s. :-)
Leave it to a Communist to say that it’s only the state that is doing poorly economically and needs help.
Yes, Keynesian economics and socialism.
Government money is magic money
Or it could be that the private sector is hanging on to too much of the money that belongs rightly to the government. Any right thinkning person would see the necessity of redistributing that back to the government via taxes, fees, penalties and/or any other revenue generating scheme. The clingers are sooo unpatriotic.
That's no way to talk about 0bama's stash in an election year!
The economy needs more (borrowed) federal STIMULUS grants to sustain employment of local government and school district employees, as many of them are dues-paying members of labor unions. Perfectly clear.
