Washington (CNN) -- More than three years after leaving office, former President George W. Bush remains unpopular with the public, according to a new national poll.
A CNN/ORC International poll also indicates that two-thirds of Americans have a positive view of Bush's predecessor, former President Bill Clinton.
According to the poll, released Thursday morning, 43% of people questioned had a favorable opinion of Bush, with 54% saying they had an unfavorable view of the former president. Bush's 43% favorable rating is the same as it was in 2010 in CNN polling, but is up from his mid-30's favorable rating during 2009, his first year out of the White House.
"Don't be surprised if the Obama campaign mentions the name of George W. Bush at every opportunity, and don't be surprised if that strategy works," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "And the mention of Bush's name appears to prompt at least a few people to take a more positive view of their current financial situation."
When asked in the survey whether they are better or worse off than they were four years ago, Americans are split, 44% to 43%. But when asked whether they are better or worse off than they were four years ago "when Bush was president," a small gap opens - 47% say they are better off compared to 41% who say they are worse off.

Oh, and when I searched for it, the following pic came up because apparently the girl's name is "Katrina Bowden". My dad used to say "everything happens for a reason", so I'm posting it as well:
I like Bush. Now go ahead a hurl your insults.
GW Bush is a good man.
Are they still pushing their Wisconsin 50-50 exit polls? I'll bet Obama's ratings will be the lowest of any ex-President, and the sooner, the better.
Miss Bowden didn’t offer her phone number, did she?

Me either. Lincoln Bedroom for sale to the highest bidder. Coffee fundraisers at the White House...nothing but graft and scandal from the time he stepped into the White House, until he left. And don't get me started on his failure to pursue the perpetrators of the World Trade Center bombing, the Mogadishu atrocity, Khobar Towers, the bombings of the American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, and the U.S.S. Cole. I specifically blame his failure to get tough on terrorism a main cause for 9/11. The guy is a slime ball.
CNN Poll ??
One of the lowest rated cable networks..
that really can make one laugh out loud...
Bush was not a great president ala Reagan, however, the media butchered Bush and it will be years before his popularity recovers.
You’ll get no flak from me on that statement, we could have done worse.
I lived through the Jimmy “Stagflation and Malaise” Carter regime ... let’s just say that my opinion of him started out pretty low in 1976 and has been on a steady, monotonic decline ever since.
obama is the biggest spender in American History, and wants your money for those who refuse to earn any..
wow what a read...
I approve of that message!
LOL I can’t believe me eyes. What sick stupid bastards.
Yes she did, and no you can’t have it. :)
“your post reads as if you are speaking of BRACAK HUSSEIN OBAMA....”
I seems you might be saying much more than you intended. Which one of my assertions were incorrect? I did not say Bush was the biggest spender in history Obama clearly is. None the less, while in office, he spent other peoples money like a drunk.
“Conservatives disdain Bush as much as the Liberals do.”
I agree with your point of view. I voted for Bush twice, but was very disappointed that he did not clean house immediately after Clinton left office. The Clinton liberals placed in high offices stayed. I also thought investigations were warranted for Ruby Ridge, Waco, and OKC. The continued spending with bipartisanship drove me crazy. The insult to those opposing amnesty to illegals was the final nail in the coffin.
Yeah, I did like his reaction to 9/11, but am not so keen on the Patriot Act and TSA is deplorable.
He never quit running againt Bush. :-)
Don’t they ALL?
