I question how much of this decision was Disney’s alone or realizing it will be punished for not following the White Hosue. That is fascism. You can keep your business but when Il Duceess wants something done you better follow.

If Michelle Obama is involved, it is a backhanded way to see more private industry and their employees fail. Wouldn’t Disney love to see Hershey’s fail - for example.

Responsible parents limit junk food - this is a back handed way to get back at capitalism with Michelle involved. Disney as a private company can do what it wants, but there must be some sort of govenment behind the scenes kickback in it for them - we just aren’t told what is going on behind the scenes with big government and Disney. We’ll know soon enough I assume.

Would you feel the same if conservatives put pressure on Disney to bend to our beliefs about what's important for children?

Elite liberals have an obsession issue with 'the body' over 'the soul' and Disney exemplifies it.

I'd rather see a child drink a soda a day - and play with stupid bright colored plastic toys than to learn that all 'lifestyles' are morally the same. But I also don't believe it's the job of our side to enlist Disney to push our beliefs. Unlike elite control freak liberals who seems to feel the rest of us must bow to their wisdom.

That said, Disney sells lots of PJ's for children - and the stuff is soaked in fire retardant... if their only concern is 'the body' they should start with that...

Why did you include SALTED here?

Because we get enough salt in our normal diet / by adding salt to foods (yes I read that article you mentioned). There is no need for our children to eat salted snack food - there is also nothing *especially* wrong with it.

I just fail to understand how NOT airing targeted ads for junk food on programs for children is somehow some vast left wing conspiracy.

In other news: Disney theme parks shutter candy stores, caramel corn vendors, soft drinks, and revoke all foodstuff licenses worldwide.

I define ‘junk food’ as the stuff that’s in the fridge that I cannot identify as having been food at one time.........

Because it can be associated with the Obamas.

Conservatives have been calling for years (and have had some limited sucess) for the advertising industry / “junk food” merchants (McDonald’s) to show some constraint in targeting ads at kids.

I can find no fault in Disney’s decision, even if it was brought about through pressure from some elite liberals.

As to the actual shows that air on Disney and what they teach our children - I can find very little there with which I agree and generally keep my kids from viewing such shows.

At least you are honest about it.

What do you think these efforts are intended to achieve? ... Parents thinking the Democrat Party really cares about them and their children?

??? Disney droping ads for junk food targeted at kids => Dem's care for kids? Or do you simply oppose the fact that Michelle is involved?

This whole effort is election year related.  As a matter of fact, I don't care for anyone trying to bludgeon someone else or any enterprise in the private sector into doing something using political correctness.  That includes Michelle Obama.  And because of her elevated non-elected status as the powerless first lady, she has no business whatsoever being involved in trying to dictate to anyone what they can or cannot do.

While you’re trying to figure out what’s wrong with this ...

I see nothing wrong with it!Okay, then how will you feel when Michelle says you can't do something else?  Where do you draw the line?  When she bans syrup, economy size soft drinks, butter, Crisco, salt, certain cuts of beef... you'll be right there to kiss her feet right?  When she and her gang start focusing on McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, and other fast food enterprises, you'll be right there to praise her right?

These are matters of personal choice, and my Constitution doesn't grant Michelle Obama, you, or anyone else to make these decisions for me.  If I and the general public prefer to eat some of these things from time to time, it's none of your G D business.

There seems to be some sort of run-way logic trail, where well-meaning people somehow disconnect with reality to justify some illogical conclusions.  What's wrong with junk food in moderation?  If we were honest with ourselves, no chips, any deserts, sodas, alcoholic drinks, or many other items would be sold.  In moderation, there isn't a problem with these things.  I like hamburgers.  That doesn't mean I eat them every day.  I like M&Ms too.  I eat them about once every six months.  Who are you are anyone else to decide what I, my wife, or my kids eat?

As a parent, if I don't think something is healthy for my children, I will limit access to it.  Believe it or not, I haven't curled into a fetal position in a corner on the floor under the kitchen table because I couldn't deal with it.

It's not like Disney is now suddenly advocating / the government mandating that kids can't eat junk food! Disney has simply decided to NOT accept advertising for junk food.

Disney is also revising it's menus at all it's theme parks.  An unelected private individual is mandating all this, and you're sitting there happy as a Lark because it's a good thing. Then it will be okay when she focuses on weapons?  You know, those hurt a lot of people each year...

Sheesh!

Are you aware that some of the early signs of trouble in Germany prior to WWII, was political correctness gone rampant?

As someone else said, this is Fascistic.

“There is no need for our children to eat salted snack food - there is also nothing *especially* wrong with it.”

And yet, lets let Michelle Obama bludgeon even corporations the size of Disney into complying with her demands. Hell no!

You’re in favor of granting to Michelle Obama the power to dictate to Disney what they do in their theme parks.

Words fail me...

DEFINE junkfood!

if they show a mcdonalds happy meal with apple slices then it does not count as junkfood.

this is meaningless.

There was a study done recently - testing for chemicals in 'mother's milk' - and they came up with a 'surprisingly' high amount of fire retardant in the milk. I suspect the reporter covering the story didn't know that baby's clothes are soaked in the stuff. That didn't appear in the story.

It was a recent study - recent story - but I have no link... sorry 'bout that...

I'm guessing - but have no proof that this could be something that's impacting children in bad ways - allergies - autism etc... it's one of the few major chemical changes for young children in the last 35 years - a time when numbers for childhood baddies started climbing...

True, but Disney has become a minion of the Obamanation. A tool for the liberal agenda. The good thing is, that banning all those so called junk food adds will hurt their bottom line badly.
The thing is being a parent, I can choose what is good and right for my kids. The government doesn’t want that kind of power in your hands.
