Luka Rocco Magnotta arrested in Berlin, German police say

Luka Rocco Magnotta was arrested in Berlin this morning, German police say.

The 29-year-old Canadian wanted for a horrific Montreal murder was arrested in an Internet cafe, according to the Bild newspaper.

The report comes just as French authorities said they were investigating the theory that Magnotta travelled from Paris to Berlin via bus.

German police spokesperson Stefan Rieldich told CP24 that a person recognized Magnotta and called police Monday.

Rieldich said Magnotta has been taken into custody and may go in front of a judge tomorrow.

Canadian officials are expected to travel to Berlin to take Magnotta into their custody in the near future.

Somehow I’m not surprised he was attracted to Berlin...Glad they caught him though.

Busted in a internet cafe according to the article. What an amateur. Everything about this guy is a fraud. Just another rump ranger looking for attention.

I am really happy to hear they caught this sick bitch. Maybe he’ll get 2 years probation in Kanada. Its “interesting” that so many perverted killers are homosexuals and/or pedophiles. May these sickos rot in hell.

He shouldn't have set foot in there.

I’m curious to see how the lame stream media play his “reasons” for mailing body parts to the Conservative Party offices. Cue the crickets.

And interestingly, I’ve seen zero mention in the media of what happened to the head, arms, and legs of his victim. I find this very odd after so many days.

The consensus is that mailing the body parts was an attention-seeking act; he also sent one to the Liberal Party HQ but it was intercepted before it could be delivered; it was still in the postal system and they traced it with the tracking number of the package that went to Tory HQ.

Apparently Canada doesn’t have a Palin equivalent for leftists to blame.

According to the Bild article, he was busted up in Neukölln, on Karl-Marx-Straße.

I know exactly where this is; I lived in Kreuzberg for about a year and a half, and it’s really only a few U-bahn stops away. Most likely, I passed by the internet cafe a dozen times; I also used to love riding my bike up around there as well.

Glad that someone alert tipped off the cops; hopefully he (or she) will get a reward, or at least a commendation. I wonder who it was? A local or a tourist? As I recall, that part of town is filled with Turks, Arabs, a smattering of Africans (mostly Kenyans, Nigerians, and Ghanians) and a handful of dredlocked anarchists. Good kebab shops......ummmm, kebab.

Truly weird and demented guy. The polizei must be having a good chuckle about this.

If I wanted something to disappear forever I would send in via Canada Post.

I'm amazed any body parts at all were delivered.

LOL. Funny you mention that. I lose more of my eBay shipments to Kanada than anywhere else in the world.

Actually, he’ll probably die in prison here. There is a legal proceeding known as “Dangerous Offender” that can be used to hold a criminal indefinitely, regardless of any parole eligibility. It was used to hold Clifford Olson for life, and it has been used on Paul Bernardo.

I don’t think this is the behavior of an amateur as much as someone who is begging to be caught. Everything about his behavior suggests he was tired of struggling with his demons and decided to give in to them and leave a highly visible trail for police to follow afterward.

He mailed one of the “parts” to the Liberal Party HQ office, too. What’s really interesting is he didn’t extend the same courtesy to the New Democrats, who are the official opposition. Perhaps he felt they would be the most sympathetic to his cause, being Canada’s most openly and steadfastly socialist party, always ready to blame “society” rather than the actual perp.

“I don’t think this is the behavior of an amateur as much as someone who is begging to be caught”

Makes sense. He was already inside the Schengen zone. He could have run to basically anywhere in europe without passport control. Yet he chose to read about himself at an internet cafe in Berlin? That is somebody who wants to get caught.
