Chuck Schumer's penal colony

You remember U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., don’t you? He was the guy who said “the American people don’t care” about the wasteful, pork-barrel spending habits of Congress. He was also the guy who called a flight attendant the “B-word” because she asked him to turn off his cellphone prior to a flight. He was also the guy who told the state of New Jersey how it should spend its own highway funds, much to the displeasure of that state’s very outspoken GOP governor, Chris Christie.

Schumer is at it again. This time, he set his sights on Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, a newly minted billionaire now that Facebook has gone public. Saverin is now renouncing his U.S. citizenship and moving to tax haven Singapore to avoid paying a huge chunk of capital gains taxes. In response, Schumer, along with fellow Democratic Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, wants to punish Saverin in every way imaginable, from enacting what can only be described as an ex post facto bill of attainder directed solely against Saverin, to prohibiting his return to the United States for any reason whatsoever and, if possible, tarring, feathering and hanging him out to dry.

Schumer's proposed legislation would serve to create an American version of the Berlin Wall.

Gold is not neccesary. I have no interest in gold. We will build a solid state, without an ounce of gold behind it. Anyone who sells above the set prices, let him be marched off to a concentration camp. That's the bastion of money.

A better approach to this matter is to simply name a single person in the legislative act and specify that it only applies to that person. (They do this in private bills all the time.) They can also specify the penalties that may apply to that person for failure to comply with the bill. This may include imprisonment and fines. On the other hand, it may just work to specify imprisonment or fines regardless of the actions of the individual named. And his/her whole family could be attainted to boot.

Shumer is also the stupid d-bag that said the three branches of government were the president, house, and senate.

I would not beleive it if I had not seen the video clip myself. It’s probably still on youtube.

He’s also the guy who caused a run on IndyMac Bank a few days before I was to secure my permanent financing (from my construction loan). End result - I lost about $10K in closing costs having to go with another bank.

I should have investigated suing him for that. And I live in NY state too.
