TOPEKA, Kan. — Kansas legislators restarted tax cut negotiations Tuesday, but senators quickly discovered they have less room than they'd hoped to bargain with House members as they try to modify aggressive income tax reductions that already have cleared the Legislature.

Three senators and three House members discussed drafting an alternative proposal that would replace one approved last week. The previous cuts individual income tax rates and eliminates income taxes for 191,000 partnerships, sole proprietorships and other businesses. Republican Gov. Sam Brownback, who's pushed the GOP-controlled Legislature to lower income taxes, has encouraged lawmakers to keep negotiating.

The Kansas GOP House thwarted an effort by the GOP Senate moderates and Democrats to kill tax reform for Kansans. The bill now sits on Brownback's desk while "moderates" in the Senate try to get the House to comprimise to a watered down bill or kill tax reform all together.

Kansas Freepers, I called Governor Brownback's office and urged him to sign the bill on his desk! Democrats and "moderate Republicans" are urging him not to sign the bill calling it irresponsible to let us keep our own money! The media, of course, is in overdrive against the bill!

Call Governor Brownback and urge him to sign the bill! 785-368-8500

Some of these so called moderates and other politicians in this state are just down right nuts. An independent business survey just ranked our state 47th worst state to run a mature business in and 48th worst state to start a business in. Plus, I’ve never seen so many empty commercial buildings in each city I visit, as businesses continue to close in this state.

Sebelius and the former Tiller political machine sure made a mess of this state. And you’re right, our local news outlets are just as corrupt as the main stream media and won’t report anything that goes against their ideology, our state and country be damned as long as they get their corrupt ideological way.

I think (hope) Governor Brownback will sign it. I don’t understand why he is tip toeing around it. He also says he will sign this tax cut bill if a compromise (watered down version) is not sent to his desk. He should just sign the bill on his desk now. The KS media is going to go after him no matter what he does anyway! They don’t want any tax cuts. Listening to Parks and Dana (KC local talk radio) the bloated KS government, which has massively increased spending over the last decade, can’t possibly cut a dime without children starving and going without an education and healthcare.

They don’t want to compromise either, they want to keep it bottled up until the session ends.

A bill is on Brownback’s desk. All he has to do is sign it! The Senate was playing games in an election year and the House called their bluff! Hope Brownback does as well!
