Pelosi: Her Catholic Faith 'Compels' Her to Support Same-Sex Marriage

CNSNews.com) – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that her Catholic faith "compels" her to "be against discrimination of any kind" and thus for same-sex marriage.

A reporter asked Pelosi: “Many of the people that are opposed to gay marriage cite their religion as the reason why they're opposed. You're a Catholic that supports gay marriage. Do you believe that religion and the idea that you can support gay marriage can be separated? And how do you grapple with the idea that you support gay marriage as a Catholic?”

Pelosi responded: "My religion has, compels me--and I love it for it--to be against discrimination of any kind in our country, and I consider this a form of discrimination. I think it’s unconstitutional on top of that. "

Pelosi spoke glowingly of the comments President Barack Obama made Wednesday when he said he supported same-sex marriage.

"So I think that yesterday was a great day for America because the president in a very personal, as well as presidential way, made history, and hopefully this will bring people together on the issue," Pelosi said.

Pelosi also said that the president "went a long way" in shortening the difference between the "inevitable and the inconceivable" of the introduction of same-sex “marriage.”

"It’s a matter of time. It's all about time. And on these issues, what is inevitable to some of us is inconceivable to others," she said. "And what we want to do is shorten the difference between the inevitable and the inconceivable," she continued. "And I think the president went a long way in doing that yesterday."

While opposing "unjust discrimination" against homosexuals, the Catechism of the Catholic Church says that homosexual acts are "contrary to the natural law" and can never be approved and that marriage is the sacramental union of a man and a woman.

"Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that 'homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered,'" says the Catechism. "They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

"The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible," says the Catechism. "This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

"Homosexual persons are called to chastity," says the Catechism. "Sexuality is ordered to the conjugal love of man and woman."

If this isn’t a time for formal excommunication of her and Biden, I don’t know when. It’s time to write the local Bishop and the Vatican.

I wonder if the Catholic Group on FR can start a petition?

Please, all you Latins, petition Pelosi’s ordinary to publicly excommunicate her. If that fails, petition Pope Benedict.

Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that her Catholic faith "compels" her to "be against discrimination of any kind" and thus for same-sex marriage...but maybe come to think of it discrimination is okay against Republicans, pro-lifers, Teapartiers, and competent, responsible people who make a lot of money.......

Every time someone puts “Pelosi” and “Catholic” in the same sentence, I get very upset. That this person continues to denigrate the faith, deny the authority of that faith and pretend to speak for all Catholics is pure evil. I will continue to pray for her, but I don’t have to tolerate her; and the Church doesn’t say anyone must tolerate evil.

My sister, sho works for the Catholic Church, has a hard time believing there are gay priests. The Church teaches after all that sex is for marriage only and then for the making of children. If you can’t make children by having sex then Catholics should have nothing to do with it. I wonder what Nancy would have to say about that?

The fact that she, and others like her, haven’t been excommunicated is to the Catholic’s shame and failing. Decent, loving Catholics should protest to the point of being taken seriously and changing the attitudes of acceptance and of ignoring such grave, heinous and public sins.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

Isaiah 5:20-23

This manaical piece of plastic surgery art is proof positive that firstly she doesn’t indeed know her ass from a hole in the ground and secondly that she was one of many key players who brought this nation to its knees.

She hasn’t a God to pray to for forgiveness because she is a non-believer and satan, who has been her master for a long time only remembers that she has been a willing soldier in his army.

To put it quite simply, the Catholic Church hasn’t been doing the job assigned to it by our Saviour, Jesus Christ. He left a perfectly good church behind to await His Second Comming and things limped along as things will until after the death of Pope Pius XII. Then, pardon the lingo, all HELL broke loose. Vatican II emasculated prelate and church and the various dioceses throughout the world thought, quite rightly, that they had a new plaything: voila. A new religion was born, but without babe in a manger and, God forbid, a suffering Christ on a crucifix. It’s bongos and guitars now to provide jarringly irritating music background as the Novus Ordo clergy takes a meat axe to what passed for tenets and liturgy.

If anyone thinks that the floodgates were opened by accident to allow the homosexuals into the seminaries and then into neighborhood parishes they are absolutely wrong headed.

This was a plot hatched by our friends in the Kremlin to bring down one of their perceived two greatest enemies: the Roman Catholic Church ahd the United States. They knew the Church would be on its knees over this scandal. (See: homosexuals do have a use)

Vatican II which formed a new Novus Ordo, anything goes touchy feely kind of thing, made the insertion of many sodomites easier to accomplish. Father limp wrist wouldn’t stand out as much and the kiddies would love him.

Let’s hope the last of that has been eradicated and we can now concentrate on taking the church back from satan. I doubt if the present pope will allow it as he appears dedicated to the Novus Ordo and has been toiling hard to bring it about.

Ratzinger will be no help. He and his successors since Pope Pius XII have been complicit in establishing a new relgion.

Their time will come; however, when they stand before their maker to explain why they took the Church of Jesus Christ and remade it into a carnival.

I’ve posted a simpler illustration of what happened after the death of Pope Pius XII. His successors went wild with Vatican II and a new church was founded: Novus Ordo!
