The reasons were to fan war hysteria in the proles, Outer Party and even Inner Party; to solidify the role of the Inner Party; and to maintain the perpetual atmosphere of fear and hatred throughout society.

IMHO the AP and the administration are, as usual, working hand-in-glove to make us think that Obama and his minions are working hard keeping us safe. “Bagging bin-Ladin” is the only feather in Obama’s cap (or will be after the SCOTUS vindicates Arizona and spanks Obamacare next month) and that bold decision only came after he was bullyragged, nagged and scolded by Hillary! & Co. for months to give the go-ahead. So he’s milking it. I don’t believe anything they tell us.
In the real world, all this means for you air travelers is that you can count on TSA goons giving you virtual prostate exams/pap smears and insulting you even more thoroughly than before. I refuse to be physically molested and degraded by strangers, so I don’t fly anymore.
