Also note the SPR would never need to supply all our oil needs at the same time. Worst case would need to supply the total amount from OPEC. A war or an embargo is not going to shut down our supply of oil from Texas, North Dakota, California, etc. We currently import ~3.8 MMBPD from OPEC.

I understood that - it’s logical. Quibling about what the SPR drawdown needs would be (e.g., for dire military petroleum needs) is, in fact, pointless and outside the purpose of this ploy.

Whether it is one day, five days or a month is not the point, either. Sure, oil is available from domestic sources, but you’re seriously going to tell me an Obama administration won’t sequester that source for HIS purposes to keep HIS people happy? It is a stunt, period.

SPR - Strategic - STRATEGIC Petroleum Reserves - Think about that and how big this drawdown is and what it is for. There is nothing strategic about it.
