Obama, Democrats not serious about passing budget

Editor's note: U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisconsin, is a member of the Senate Budget Committee.

(CNN) -- The U.S. government is the largest financial entity in the world. Nothing else comes close.

On Sunday, April 29, it will be exactly three years since the U.S. Senate passed a budget.

If you own or work for a small business that has a loan from a bank, I'm quite sure your business has a budget -- and a rather detailed budget at that. Every year around tax time, many American families sit down to fill out tax forms, estimate their income, and set spending priorities for the upcoming year. It's the responsible thing to do.

And yet, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid appears to believe it is not necessary for the Senate to fulfill its legal responsibility by debating and passing a budget to account for $3.8 trillion in federal spending next fiscal year, $15.6 trillion of debt and, according to figures produced by the Senate Budget Committee Republican staff, more than $65 trillion in additional unfunded liabilities.

To provide some perspective to these incomprehensible numbers, the total net private asset base -- that is, the net value of all household assets, small business assets, and large business assets -- of the United States is $82 trillion, according to figures from the Federal Reserve Flow of Funds Account from March 8, 2012.

Even worse, President Barack Obama and his administration seem to view budgeting as just one more political maneuver. His efforts have been so completely unserious that the President's 2012 budget was rejected by a vote of 97-0 in the Senate. And three weeks ago, when Rep. Mick Mulvaney, R-South Carolina, sponsored a budget proposal based on Obama's 2013 budget plan, it lost in the House by a vote of 414-0.

U.S. Debt to the penny,$15,624,347,610,476.87.
That’s 15 Trillion dollars!
No way to budget ourselves out of that no matter who is in charge.

Has a budget meant anything in the last 40 years? If you’re not going to stick to it anyway, a budget is just a farce.

In this regard, the Dems are actually more honest than the Republicans. Dems are not even pretending to have financial self-control, while the R’s put on an act of fiscal discipline.

Just a humble opinion....but after three years of passing no budget...I don’t see a reason to involve the Senate. This type of legislation should be removed from their job description.

The Dems want Republicans to pass a budget, so they can blame them for the awful financial mess.

sJohnson is also unhappy with the slow pace of republicans. He is not on the reservation and we need about 15 more just like him!! NOW!! Time to make McConnel the former republican leader and to elect 12 conervatives with business on political backgorunds.

The same goes for the HOuse - I am supporting Grant Stinchefield in North Tx. to get rid of a career politician. Grant was a "TV reporter who uncovered loads of corruption." Time we had people who can TALK on TV to get our the message instead of the tongue tied duffus' we have had for the last 20 years.

Obama is a typical democrat, who refuses to take budget responsibilities seriously. Just look at Dummycrats at the local and state levels, Chicago, the State of Illinois, Los Angeles, the State of California, the State of New York, etc. The Federal Money Laundering Machine with its $16 Trillion deficit is strangling the global economy not to mention killing the future of Americans. To think that the Dummycrat Senate has not passed a budget in over THREE EFFING YEARS....unfreakingbelievable!

The Marxist Loving Dummycrats are too stupid to be ashamed. Look how they were giggling at last night's black tie event. DISGUSTING JERKS.
