I guess that depends on your definition of free
You know that I speak my mind. What you don't know is that I have received well over a dozen messages in the past two years from freepers who said that they were afraid to post similar opinions for fear of being zotted.
That's the fact of it...many long-time freepers do not feel "free" to discuss. I believe that the pendulum will swing back but in the mean-time FR will lose good people.

You’re kidding, right? Ask all the people who have been run off over a simple difference of opinion if free discussion takes place here.
The past 2-3 months? Not really. I haven’t been posting much for fear of saying the wrong thing and getting zotted by one of the mods gone wild.
Well, one could be banned for defending and campaigning for the(soon to be)Republican nominee for President.
I understand that is JR’s prerogative and this is a conservative site that has a very specific agenda. Fostering free discussion is not one of them, however.
I have to admit that even posting this feels as if it might be a grounds for ZOT but I would be remiss if I didn’t opine.

I get my news here and donate frequently, but I have no illusions that free discussion takes place here. It does not.
The shrinking base of readers and posters will probably require a change in the business model, including commercial revenue and subscriptions.
Nope! Not at all. When I signed up this was a place were REAL honest debate took place and ideas were honed and refined. Sadly, that is no longer the case and hasn't been for quite some time now.
