Justice Scalia Shares Gun Love with Justice Kagan on Hunting Trip

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has found himself a new enthusiastic hunting partner in fellow Justice Elena Kagan. We know what you're thinking: "Wait a second, isn't Kagan that new judge Obama appointed?" Yep, that's the one. We're just as surprised (and delighted) as you are.

We have to give some kudos to Scalia, but it looks as though we have Sen. James Risch of Idaho to ultimately thank for this fortunate turn of events. Back in 2010 when Obama nominated Kagan for the Supreme Court position, Risch asked Kagan about her views on gun rights. She admitted that she'd never fired a gun before, but made a promise to go hunting with Scalia if she were confirmed.

Kagan kept her promise and went on a hunting trip with her philosophical opposite. The pair took a quick trip to a Virginia shooting range, followed by a hunting trip in the Washington area. When asked about the experience, Kagan replied, "It turns out, it's really good fun." The pair are planning on hunting again in Montana this October.

We can't be certain if Justice Scalia was motivated by political reasons or simply by a desire to find a new hunting pal, but we're not complaining. Another Supreme Court justice discovering her newfound love of guns is music to our ears. It's all a bit ironic considering that Kagan came off as a unsympathetic to gun rights a few years ago. As it turns out, all it took to get her to change her mind about guns was to actually pick one up.

Many of those who are "anti-gun" love guns and hunting. They just do not want the general population to have guns that are not under direct control of the government.

It is a question of who is in charge, after all.

When I suspected she might be “one of the guys” that isn’t what I had in mind.

I hope she isn’t out there influencing Scalia. Lol

“It is a question of who is in charge, after all.”

Exactly. Leftists want you to completely depend on the government to protect your life at all times...

I don’t like anyone going out and killing animals for sport.
My opinion. Jennikins.

The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with whether one has personally fired a gun. Likewise, the 1st Amendment has nothing to do with owning a printing press.

Manly Women (lesbians) who are taught to hate things (without actually dealing with them) that are manly will actually change their minds about them if they are exposed to them in a positive manner.

I have seen this happen personally to other people several times.

One was a sickly creature who was convinced to be a Vegan and learned to appreciate grilling and now thinks that even ovo lacto vegitarians are crazy.

Sometimes putting a manly women instead of a weak-spined girly man into an position can backfire on the libs in that it is easier for a manly women to embrace conservatism than it is for a effete man to do so.

Do they actualy hunt or are they going to a game farm where the fields are stocked about a 1/2 hr earlier with birds and dogs flush them about 20 25 yards out?

That’s about as silly as me declaring... I don’t like anyone going out and picking plants for sport!

If I want to kill an animal or plant.. that’s what they are freaking there for!

Even if I just leave it on the ground, i’ve just made an easy meal for another animal.

I don’t believe in hunting where the carcass would go to waste either, or where it’s likely an animal will only be maimed but not killed, but I do not believe this is the case for almost all hunting.

I don’t like this at all. Cheney plugged his attorney and last week we had some guy shoot his fiance in FL while hunting. Antonin Scalia is way too valuble to be exposed to an opponent with a gun. Keep Scalia safe. Let Kagen go hunting with Ginsburg.

"I don't like anyone going out and killing animals for sport."

And I don't like you.

Stuff your 'opinion', and keep it in California where it belongs.

I'd have to agree. I don't kill animals for sport. I kill for food, or for protection of crops or livestock.

But that doesn't take away from the enjoyment of coydog hunting when they become a problem.

“Justice Scalia Shares Gun Love with Justice Kagan on Hunting Trip”

Maybe he’s using the old Dick Cheney hunting trick...

The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with whether one has personally fired a gun. Likewise, the 1st Amendment has nothing to do with owning a printing press.

But by having a person actually use either of those devices, they are more likely to support it's use.

I could care less either way.
