Republicans are hoping the protests, planned for June and July will have a major bearing on the election which will follow four months later. They look forward to TV shots of robed priests and nuns being led away in handcuffs.

“These would be devastating images for the Obama administration,” GOP strategist Ron Bonjean told The Hill. “You have a very important religious demographic coming out in protest of Obama’s policies and being arrested for their expression.”

Alright .. that is absolutely sick! As a catholic, I don't appreciate being used by a political party to ensure the election of their candidate.

This has nothing to do with Republicans.Its all from the Bishops and Cardinal Dolan has made it clear that this is not a political issue but a constitutional one.The author of the article can conclude it will help Reps...that’s his opinion.

As a Catholic, I have to respectfully disagree.
This is not as much about electing a candidate as it is the defeat of evil. If Obama makes it to be President again, ALL Christians are likely to be led away in handcuffs or have names written in books by government officials to be targeted later (as happened to my Slovak Pastor under communism) or go underground. Dollars to donuts that strategist feels as most conservatives do and these priests and nuns would too.

Thank God the Bishops are willing to stand for what’s right. I will be out protesting and will go to jail if need be.
