Finally, a voice of sanity has emerged to stand against the madness that is America's Sanctuary City - Los Angeles.
The Police Protective League (PPL) - the union that represents Los Angeles police officers - has sued the city and Police Chief Charlie Beck this week over his disgraceful new policy that allows illegal alien unlicensed drivers to keep their cars instead of having them impounded for 30 days - as California state law mandates.
We profiled Beck's announcement last month that the LAPD would "ignore" state law because "it's about fairness" to illegal aliens. Chief Beck - who is nothing but a lapdog for Mayor (and former MEChA radical) Antonio Villaraigosa - actually said the law was "unfair" because it would limit illegals' ability to get to their jobs and impose a steep fine to get their car. Beck showed a total disregard for both state and Federal laws that make him unfit to wear the uniform.
Well Beck and his boss may put the needs of illegals above the safety of the public, but the police union has no such luxury. The union says they filed the lawsuit on behalf of its officers, who they say will be open to lawsuits if an unlicensed driver they stop later hurts or kills someone.
Indeed, a 2011 AAA study titled “Unlicensed to Kill” found that unlicensed drivers are five times more likely to be involved in fatal crashes and more likely to flee the scene of a crime.
The PPL filed their lawsuit Wednesday, asking the court to block Beck’s new order, which is scheduled to go into effect Sunday.
It is up to a judge to decide whether this disgraceful violation of California law can be stopped before citizens are put at increased risk this weekend. We salute the union for standing up against their own Chief and standing by the LEGAL taxpayers who pay their salaries.

Didn’t read it all, but from the headline I had to laugh,
how can you take the cars away from illegal aliens because they don’t have a drivers licence because they are illegal aliend so they can’t get a drivers licence because they are illegal aliens, if they can’t get to work to mow your lawn or wipr your kids asses if they don’t have a car because they don’t have a driver’s licence LOL

I’ve thought for several years that the LAPD is the best large urban police force in the nation. Yet how long can that be expected to last with these two clowns constantly undermining them?
Beck is a traitor and has lost all respect by the rank and file on the streets.
No different than Americans losing all respect and trust for government at all levels.
This suit is so bogus! The REAL solution is for police to NOT ASK FOR LICENSES of anyone they stop; then they won't know they're unlicensed! Maybe fewer police, and more automatic cameras --cameras can't ask for licenses!-- to send tickets.... < /Lib Apologist >
