The group claims it appears somebody within the IRS fed the Human Rights Campaign the documents listing 2008 contributors. On the list was a $10,000 donation from Romney's political action committee. In a blog in late March, the Human Rights Campaign declared it had uncovered one of the group's "top secret donors," and accused Romney of "essentially funding NOM's strategy of using racial division and unfounded scare tactics to attack LGBT equality."
The donation came as the National Organization for Marriage and other groups were fighting for the Proposition 8 measure banning gay marriage in California.
But the gay marriage debate aside, National Organization for Marriage President Brian Brown said the leak was illegal.

I suggest you delete this message. It is inconsistent with the anti-Romney rants on this website. How can Romney be funding and anti-gay marriage legislation in groups when according to the powers that be he is a pro-homosexual pro-abortion anti-Jesus Christ anticonstitutional left-wing communist socialist?
I’m not saying I’m in favor of it or against it or if I believe it or don’t believe it. It’s just what FoxNews has now.
I think the story is more about IRS stealing private information more than what it really is about Romney’s character one way or the other.
This is a distraction.
Romney and his top donors are all pro-gay marriage.
This is their attempt to change the topic.
Because Romney goes boyh ways. He’s great at covering all the bases. I’m against! I’m for it! I was pressred! yadiyadiya!
agreed
What a shock Romney being on both sides of an issue, the real shock would be if he had ever had the core moral values to honestly to stand for any issue.
Here is the real Romney.

Here is a personal letter he wrote explaining how he is more pro-’gay-agenda’ than Ted Kennedy.
**I am not unaware of my opponents considerable record in the area of civil rights, or the commitment of Massachusetts voters to the principle of equality for all Americans. For some voters it might be enough for me to simply match my opponents record in this area. But I believe we can and must do better. If we are to achieve the goals we share, we must make equality for gays and lesbians a mainstream concern. My opponent cannot do this. I can and will.
We have discussed a number of important issues such as the Federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which I have agreed to co-sponsor, and if possible broaden to include housing and credit, and the bill to create a federal panel to find ways to reduce gay and lesbian youth suicide, which I also support. One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clintons dont ask, dont tell, dont pursue military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nations military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share.
As we begin the final phase of this campaign, I need your support more than ever. By working together, we will achieve the goals we share for Massachusetts and our Nation.
Sincerely,
W. Mitt Romney
Sorry, I don’t believe this garbage. I think this was leaked into the media as some lame attempt to galvanize conservatives to support Romney. C’mon, this guy said in 1994 he wanted to be more liberal than Ted Kennedy on gay rights. Sorry, try again. All you party operatives on this site go tell your bosses the only way you’ll get my vote for president is if you flush Romney at the convention.
When you realize frothing over Romney is more important to many Freepers than corruption in the Obama administration laid bare by politically motivated misuse of the IRS, you realize just how bad it's gotten.
