When Indiana primary voters go to the polls on May 8, they should remember that in 2008 Dick Lugar verbally embraced Barack Obama and gave Obama bipartisan cover at a critical time in the campaign, so much so that Lugar became a prominent fixture in Obama campaign ads in key battleground states.
The history of Obama and Lugar goes back at least to 2005, when the new Senator Obama and Lugar took a trip to Russia together.
In 2008, Lugar became Obamas poster child for Obamas supposed foreign policy credentials and willingness to work with Republicans:

How did Lugar react to the Democratic candidate using his image and name in a campaign ad? Did Lugar object, since he technically had endorsed McCain and since the ad might mislead viewers into thinking Lugar supported Obama?
No, Lugar who was whispered to be a potential Obama running mate was okay with the ad:

Lugar is truly the epitome of RINO!
Indianans, end this career of a turncoat. It’s too bad he gets a pension for the rest of his life.
Among other things, Lugar has been pushing the “Law of the Seas Treaty” (LOST) which would turn over ownership and control of the oceans and seabed to the UN. That alone should qualify Lugar for a treason conviction.
I agree with your description of Lugar. Incidentally, people from Indiana are normally referred to as “Hoosiers”.
I'M TRYING! Murdoch and Lugar are putting up nothing but phony attack ads in IN. I'm really getting pissed at Murdoch. His ads need to show Lugar siding with Democrats and Obama. Show his speeches, cite his quotes in the attack adds. Then Murdoch needs to make bold conservative statements not "I'll vote to cut government spending and reduce the deficit." This has become cliche.
How about, "I'll cut the size of the EPA and get bills passed to reduce it's size and authority by 50%. I'll support legislation to speed up oil, gas and coal exploration, extraction and refinement to drive down gas prices. I want to privatize Fannie and Freddie. I want to privatize SS for anyone under 40. I want to completely repeal Obamacare and replace it with the GOP bill that let's insurance companies work across state lines along with aggressive tort reform. I want to bass a bill that makes frivolous interstate lawsuits a crime punishable by fines and prison. I want to throw out our existing tax code and instead tax consumption. Here are the government departments I would eliminate...."
Murdoch, like every other politician doesn't want to make commitments and be accountable by stating real conservative initiatives. And that is pissing me off.
IN is a huge coal producer. Obama policies are shutting down coal mines and plants. REPRESENT INDIANA!!!!
Rant over.
Hoosiers. Thanks.
This Hoosier will certainly be voting against the RINO come primary day.
Thanks for educating me.
And FYI, I have sent Mourdock a donation, just to do my part, in a small way.
This Hoosier did not vote for Lugar last time, I voted Libertarian in the Nov. election since he had no primary opponent. I will definitely be supporting Mourdock this time. And the TV commercials are really annoying, Lugar’s commercials take everything Mourdock says out of context. I no longer feel that Lugar cares about Indiana’s best interests and Hoosier concerns.
Let Hoosiers be HOSERS, at least as far as Lugar is concerned.
Unfortunately the largest newspaper in the state, The Indianapolis Star, is completely in the tank for Lugar. They’ve been running at least one Lugar puff story every week for the last four or five months.
I’m sorry to say that I did vote for Lugar last time, but his voting record the last 5 years has taken a nose dive into the liberal cesspool.
This ex-Hoosier thanks you!
It’s truly time to say “Good night, Dick.”
All the One Worlders bow towards the UN — their Mecca.
I had forgotten about this. Time to send a donation to Murdoch
Do you know why they are called Hoosiers?
I thought they were called Indians, or politically correct Native-Americans.
“Unfortunately the largest newspaper in the state, The Indianapolis Star, is completely in the tank for Lugar. Theyve been running at least one Lugar puff story every week for the last four or five months.”
Well, I always take the liberal media as a good contrarian indicator. Mourdock MUST be the right choice if they are doing that.
I suspect that most Hoosiers think they are mandated by law to vote for Lugar. People there truly believe in his nonsense.
