Israel’s actions have stripped the Palestinian Authority of its “raison d'etre”, creating a reality which cannot continue, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas will say in a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, AFP reported on Sunday.
The French news agency’s report was based on a copy it saw of the letter. Abbas recently revealed some of the letter's contents in a speech in Cairo.
In the letter, which will be delivered to Netanyahu this week, Abbas warns that “the current status quo cannot continue”, according to the AFP report.
“As a result of actions taken by successive Israeli governments, the Palestinian National Authority no longer has any authority, and no meaningful jurisdiction in the political, economic, territorial and security spheres,” says the letter.
“In other words, the PA lost its raison d'etre which, if it continues, will make it unable to honor its commitments,” Abbas says, referring to the multiple agreements signed with Israel since the 1993 Oslo Accords, which brought about the creation of the Palestinian Authority a year later.

as opposed to the past 18 years, when the PA was merely unwilling to honor its commitments. When are you leaving, Mahmoud?
My heart bleeds for the PA.
Women everywhere bleed monthly for the PA.
I thought the raison d’etre for the P.A. was to collect money from the U.S. and Europe.
This clears the way for Hussein to fund (the officially terrorist) Hamas directly.

It was also to give the PLO a fiefdom so they would reduce their usual extortion money from Saudi Arabia enough so that oil will not go too high. Apparently, that last part was still a problem.

Other than for those who consider the destruction of Israel the palestinian raison d'etre, it ended pre-oslo, during the Madrid "process". In which rational palestinians were processed, in favor of Abu Ammar, aka Yasser Arafat.
One such rational Palestinian, Abua Sehaleh, now sits on PA death row for selling land to Jooos!

If there was ever a palestinian (which there wasn’t and isn’t) state, it’s in Jordan, where they even have a so-called palestinian queen...even though hers and King Hussein’s kids still look Jewish to me.
