More likely he asked for a trial so he can get a public hearing instead of a media assassination. Its the only recourse he has to change the public perception due to all the media lies.

Or he invoked his right to a speedy trial by a jury of his peers.

The world has been on George Zimmermans head. The GD POTUS has convicted him, and his whole family and people not even associated with him have been living in fear. Speculation it may be, but he might have just come forward and said, “charge me and try me, but let’s have pressure relief here or there will be a race war.”

Going to be one of those anyway for this bodes not well for anyone white who defends themselves against a black assailant. The racial hucksters are now emboldened to travel the nation and attack any incident with impunity and the tacit blessing of the current DOJ and administration.

I, for one, will not be cowed. I will not hesistate to save my own life, the life of my family, or a stranger in need.

With the New Black Panthers putting a bounty on his head, he is much safer in jail than out in the public somewhere. The govt. can give him protection if he is in their custody.

They can charge him with murder 2, but it doesn’t mean he will convicted with it.....

I just want the truth to come out, either way.

This again? She refused to talk with him and immediately contacted his two former lawyers to tell them he called.

He called because he knew the charge was coming already, probably thought he could at least explain his side.

Where are all you people who suggest he talked to the prosecutor getting this info from?

I've yet to see any reliable reports that this actually happened.

I guess GZ thought justice was blind....

That’s naïve at best

Being a neighborhood watchman, Zimmerman probably had foolish faith in the American system of “justice.” He will find that there is no balm in Gilead, I suspect. A FL jury will crucify him because it will do as it is told.

IMO, I think the lawyers quit because they fear repercussions from the race baiters and Martin supporters.

Since he was not in contact with his putative lawyers and undoubtedly afraid to stay in his home, he may have just been calling to leave a phone number where he could be reached. Could easily have been something as simple as that.

It was stupid for him to say anything at all — let the trained professionals handle the mess.

Folks, you should never talk to the police if you are suspected of doing wrong. It doesn't matter what you say, they can twist it and use it against you. I would bet that Zimmerman said something the thought would help clear him and they are going to use it to convict him. Take the 5th, that is why it was put into the bill of rights. To help innocent people from being wrongly convicted.

Take the 5th and ask for your lawyer and you can't go wrong, at least not as wrong as talking to the cops. The cops won't help you, they are not there to help you and they are not trying to find the truth. They are trying to find the easiest person to convict and if you run your mouth it will most likely be you.

I'm thinking he told the prosecutor something that allowed her to bump up the charge.

Oh, please! This is about our Norman lords being able to pull the wings off a peasant fly like George Zimmerman, while a royal like Jon Corzine walks around free.

The racebaiters in the White House & in the media WANT this country to be like Britain, where the yobs can terrorise anyone they like, and any peasant who resists gets the book thrown at them.

12-year-old Trayvon gets rid of neighborhood watches, self-defense and concealed carry all in one fell swoop.

Norman lords like Sir Michael Bloomberg still get their phalanx of automatic-weapon-toting men-at-arms, but the peasants are effectively disarmed.

Win-win for "Dick" Holder and his Kenyan boss.

He was represented by counsel at the time. The prosecutor could not legally talk to him and anything he told her would be inautdmissible in court.

The prosecutor filed MURDER charges because she knew that anything less than murder would not have mollified the mob. She’s a political hack and her decision was based on politics and not on the facts. If she had not charged him with any crime then she would have been a target for death threats and her career would have been over and Sanford would be burning. That is why she charged him with murder.

Any questions?

He's better off with a second-degree murder charge than a manslaughter charge because by no stretch of the imagination could it be second-degree murder.

It's a slam-dunk acquittal.

I think the pressure got to him: having to be on the run all the time and not having freedom of movement. I think Mr. Zimmerman thought if he called the prosecutor he could tell his side of the story and it’d be over, and that’s what caused his former legal counsel to jump ship. He walked into the lion’s mouth and any bargaining chips they’d planned on disappeared.
