EW has confirmed, per Entertainment Tonight‘s exclusive, that George Clooney will host a fundraiser for President Barack Obama on May 10. The Oscar winner is inviting 150 guests to his Los Angeles home to support Obama’s re-election campaign. The tickets, running $40,000 apiece, will benefit the Obama Victory fund — a joint fundraising committee of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee, and several state Democratic parties.

Clooney has long been outspoken about politics both personally and professionally. He recently was arrested in order to bring awareness to the Sudanese humanitarian crisis and also participated in a staged reading of Dustin Lance Black’s play about California’s Prop 8 anti-gay marriage law. He joked to ET, “I’m proud to do whatever I can to support the President… as long as no one asks me to sing.” No worries, George. POTUS has that covered

Is there NO actors in hollywood willing to host a $40K a plate dinner for Republicans?

After all, they are rich and Republicans are only for the Rich people, aren’t they?

I wouldn’t give a $1 to a looser. Why would they waste their money? These people are nuts.

It’s a moot point I know but why would anyone support anything these Hollywood Jackwagon’s make. I certainly don’t. The only movie my wife and I have watched in a theater in the last 10 years is “Act of Valor”.

Excellent if you haven’t seen it.

This reminds me of an ancient Peanuts cartoon from the early sixties where Lucy was having trouble earning money with her 5 cent psychiatric booth, so raised the price to 5 dollars, her justification being that she needed only one patient to meet her income goals.

Obama to George, I sure appreciate your support especially your support of increasing taxes on the rich.

Obama to George (six months after he is reelected), I sure appreciate your support on taxes George, I have to tell we just need to take a little more, you don’t mind do you George, thanks.

Obama to George (six more months later) were almost there George, we just need a little more, and don’t worry we have already taken what we need from your accounts, thanks George

Six months later there is a knock on the door at George’s house, men dressed in black combat uniforms marked clearly IRS, we are here to notify you George we have taken control of all your accounts, and also to search your house for any cash and valuables you might have...Oh and by the way, it has been determined you don’t need all 8000 sq ft of this house, we will let you stay in 2000 sq feet, but the rest will be divided up among some other families that have no where to live...You don’t have a problem with that...DO YOU GEORGE!

Obama said to tell you, thanks george.

$40k is not far from what I paid for a brand new Corvette a few years ago. I can’t fathom paying that much for a plate of food where I’d have to look at his ugly mug while eating!

More reason never to patronize movies with this Clooney Clown in the cast.
