It would not surprise me at all if that is precisely how the establishment moderates see this thing. All they need is one social scripture quoting conservative who clearly can't win a general election to stay in the GOP primary, split the grassroots energy, and clear the path for the RINO. Once it's down to RINO and an unelectable socon, there will always be enough Republican voters who opt for the electable moderate candidate to ensure the establishment prevails.
