Another poll shocker from Campaign Research today as their latest tracking poll shows the Wildrose Party in Alberta up by 17 points over the PC Party.
Youll remember a week ago that Campaign Research first released their poll via this website and had Wildrose up by 9 points while other pollsters had the PCs tied with Wildrose. In the following days, other pollsters caught up to confirm the 9 point lead.
Now, this poll shows Danielle Smiths Wildrose up by 17 points.
Here are the other highlights: - Wildrose would take 45.5% of the popular vote if an election were held today - PCs at 28.4% - gap closing in Edmonton, expanding in Calgary and rural areas - Wildrose 50.0% in Calgary, 28.1% in Edmonton, and 51.9% in the rest of Alberta - Best Premier poll: Smith has 30.5%, Redford has 28.9%

Is Wildrose like the old Reform Party there?
From what I read, yes. I am just an American living in IN, a political junkie, but from what I have read: Yes.
And, IMO Danielle Smith is like the Canadian version of Sarah Palin.
no, it is more normal than Reform Party was.
The PC in Alberta is liberal. They recently banned homeschoolers from teaching kids that homosexuality is a sin. We are talking about private conversations, AT HOME, between a parent and child... being REGULATED.
Does that sound conservative to you?
Productive classes of the world unite, you have only to lose your moochers!
I wouldn't expect the "conservatives" or even "Progressive conservatives" would be liberal in Alberta though. The homeschool regulations sound like something out of Toronto, or California, or Illinois.

The Progressive-Conservatives were re-born in the 60’s after near-extinction as a more urban/progressive alternative to the Social Credit party, which had been in power since ‘35. On the whole, their election in ‘71 was a move to the centre/left. The Wildrose is both a turn to the right and a turfing of a dynasty that has been in long enough.
