Whereas the University of Iowa and its Law School are government-run institutions supported by tax dollars, and
Whereas the classic ideal of a Liberal Arts education involves training students to look at a variety of sources of information and opinion before formulating their own views, and
Whereas this ideal is more likely to happen if the instructors of the institution themselves hold to a diversity of opinions, and
Whereas over time the University of Iowa, and especially its Law School have become dominated by one political party and a liberal mindset, and
Whereas Teresa Wagner was rejected for a faculty appointment at the University of Iowa Law School even though her qualifications were clearly superior to those of the person hired, and
Whereas Teresa Wagner filed a lawsuit for discrimination on the basis of political beliefs against the University, and
Whereas a panel of the Federal Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals recently voted unanimously to remand the case to the District Court for further action, and
Whereas there is a smoking gun email in which a Dean of the Law School admits the other faculty are biased against Teresa Wagner because of her outspoken pro-life views and previous work at conservative organizations, therefore
Be it resolved that the Johnson County Republican Central Committee commends Teresa Wagner for challenging the discrimination against her based on her conservative political beliefs and condemns such action by the University.
We call upon the University, and especially its Law School, to practice the relevant diversity of ideas in an institution of higher learning, and further to fully implement the University of Iowas stated non-discrimination statement; not discriminating on the basis of race, national origin, color, creed, religion, sex, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or associational preference.

Won’t happen because ex-hippies and ex-1960s protestors control the various departments and hiring.

“”Today the Eighth Circuit reinstated a political discrimination lawsuit against Carolyn Jones, the former dean of the University of Iowa College of Law. The case was brought by Teresa Wagner, a part-time employee in the law schools writing center, who claims that Jones failed to hire her for a full-time position because of her (Wagners) conservative political views. (Wagner is a registered Republican who, according to the Eighth Circuit, has actively advocated for socially conservative causes.)
The district court granted Jones motion for summary judgment, but a three-judge panel of the Eighth Circuit reversed that decision, concluding there was enough evidence for a jury to find that Jones failure to hire Wagner was motivated by political bias.
Jones had claimed in the district court and on appeal that Wagners political beliefs did not enter her hiring calculusthe faculty voted not to hire Wagner, and Jones claims that she always adopts the facultys position. But the Eighth Circuit ruled that a reasonable jury could come to the opposite conclusion. After the faculty voted not to hire Wagner, then-Associate Dean John Carlson wrote to Dean Jones, expressing his concern that Wagners political beliefs might have played a part in that decision. Carlson also told Wagner that she should conceal from the faculty the fact that she received a job offer from a purportedly conservative law school. That evidencein addition to the fact that only one out of the 50 professors at the law school is a Republicanraises the question whether Dean Jones decision, and her reliance on the faculty vote, was based on Wagners political beliefs and was therefore in violation of the First Amendment.
The case will now head back to district court for trial.””

Goody.
At least SOMEBODY on our side has a pair of balls.
This should be going on 24/7/365 in ALL of our fifty-seven states!!
One could wish. IF ONLY there were an opposition party.....
You were there, too ?
Yep...I fought my way through a Master’s program and then one year of a Ph.D. program before I finally had enough of the indoctrination attempts.
BA, U of Iowa J school.
I considered the Master’s program at ISU when I was still in the scribbling profession. I went into marketing and sales instead.
