Temporary outage of Visa card network Sunday

A technical problem affecting the Visa network barred some people around the United States from using their credit and debit cards for about 45 minutes on Sunday, the company said.

Ah ha! But it was longer than 45 minutes. I was trying to donate to FR and kept getting this message that said my address was incorrect. I know I’m old and oftentimes forgetful but never to that extent.

This little problem affected Visa credit cards, and ALSO Visa DEBIT cards.

Its not just about debt. I have no debt, but I run all of my purchasing through my MasterCard and simply pay it off every couple of weeks. It’s more convenient than checks and safer than carrying lots of cash, or exposing my debit card to risk. It’s easier to dispute a charge on a credit card than hasn’t been paid, than a debit when the money is already gone.
