But Romney played down the importance of the meeting between the himself and Gingrich, who earlier this week scaled back his campaign and laid off staffers.

I am glad that Santorum kept his principles and didn’t lower himself with talking to Romney. That is about as low as you can go. I will NOT vote for Romney in the General. I would vote for Rick or Newt though.

Big deal. You guys are going to get your wish, Romney because you don’t agree with a few things Santorum says. Great job!

We all know Rotney is tearing to pieces Rick/Newt, but what about numbers and facts?

It's ALL here, hat-tip to LA Times (note proper spelling this time!). This link is to an interactive chart showing who spent what against whom. Use the slider to narrow the dates covered, to see how much Rotney focused like a laser beam on either Rick or Newt, depending on which primary happened to be next.

I’m a Newt supporter, not Romney, but your statement is kinda silly. If Santorum does become President will he refuse to talk with our political enemies like the Castros, Chavez, Putin, Ahmadinejad, Korea’s Kim........??? If RINO-Rom does get the nomination, I hope Rick will “lower himself” to talk to Romney when he calls to offer him a prime time speaking slot at the Convention in Tampa. Rick deserves that honor. Like I say, your remark is pure silliness; not to mention immature.

A “few things”???? Geesh! Every time the guy opens his mouth he lets his mouth write out a check his ass can’t cover. He’s become and embarrassment. He’s the Pat Roberson of the 21st Century without the academic intellect.

I think A Santorum/Gingrich ticket would be ideal and I can’t stand Gingrich on a personal level.

Gingrich has the temperament to wield the whip over congress while Santorum has the diplomatic demeanor.

Romney and Santorum have been de facto partners for months against the more conservative Gingrich. This is very similar to the McCain-Huckabee alliance in 2008 against the more conservative Fred Thompson.

It hasn’t been a secret since a Gingrich aide gave the story to Politico a few days ago.

No. Santorum was never going to beat Romney because he is a weak candidate.

I was a Palin to 999 to Gingrich supporter.

Gingrich is done and was our last hope to defeat Romney.

So, I’ll be voting for the viable conservative left...Santorum.

But it’s essentially over and a mere protest vote against the Establishment. Wooop de friggin doo.

So you hate him because he’s Christian just like Pat Robertson. I always wondered about the absolute hatred people have for Rick.

Glad you allow us Christians scum to vote.

Pray for America

I beg your pardon.

I am opposed to Santorum because he is the weakest possible Fall candidate, worse than Romney, even. I sincerely believe that a Santorum nomination threatens the House majority.

It's not because of a "few things [he] says".

Actually, I think all three of them (Romney, Gingrich and Santorum) met together, according to a report I read last week, since the meeting actually happened before the LA primary. The meeting seemed to be aimed at getting Gingrich to drop out, and he refused.

I heard the same thing. And most all the internals, exit polls etc, say that if Newt drops out, Romney wins much quicker by larger margins.

Newt also knows this, which is why he has stayed in this long.

Well, whoever you “heard” this from....go ask them why Santorum would be involved in getting Romney elected.

It’s lacking in political logic.
