We did the same. The year that my younger daughter ended up with nothing because a mom encouraged a 12-year-old to get eggs for her little sister, I said no more.
We don’t need all the stupid candy anyway.
We do “in the dark” egg hunts with flashlights. At 12 and 14 they still want to do it, even if the eggs are empty.
It was a small city lot. My parents came home.
Bless my dear dad...all he did was smile, and told us to wash the egg off the house when we were done.
