Flashback: Economic Jitters an Albatross for Bush (4.6% unemployment)
LA Times ^ | 06/29/06 | Doyle McManus

WASHINGTON — All year long, in speeches and briefings and visits to factories and shops, President Bush and his aides have tried to convince Americans that the economy is in good shape -- and that the president deserves some credit for that. That effort is not making much headway, a Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll has found. Americans are closely divided on whether the economy is in good shape, with 50% saying it is doing well and 47% saying it is doing badly, the poll found. In January, when Bush launched his campaign to spread good news, the national mood was slightly better: In a Times Poll that month, 55% said the economy was doing well.

KEYWORDS: bush; busheconomy; bushunemployment; economy; gas; mediabias; mediahypocrisy; unemployment
The findings suggest that there isn't much Bush can do to improve his standing on these issues in the short run because unemployment is low by historical standards

Proves the power of the corrupt liberal media. They can convince poeple that the economy sucks at 4.6% but that 8.3% after 38 months is an acceptable norm.

The same media that proclaimed the economy under Bush as the worst since the Great Depression, seem strangely silent when there is little doubt we under Obama currently have the worst economy since the 1930s by whatever measure we want to use. It is more than a double standard it is utter hypocrisy

It's more than hypocrisy. Hollywood leftists are hypocrites. The media is far more. They are allowed to shape the narrative. This is corruption at its core. These so-called journalists are nothing but Dem activists.

It is truly to weep. From behind the protection of the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the “Freedom of the Press” has emerged the single greatest threat to the existence of both the Constitution and the United States.
The established media, proud graduates of the Josef Goebbels School of Journalism, corrupts its very reason for existence.
If Obama had, this day, Bush’s economy, he’d be an absolute shoo-in for a second term. Bush, having Bush’s economy was labeled an utter failure.
The media, aided by professional race-baiters, broadcasts and re-broadcasts the tragic death of a youth, willfully in a manner guaranteed to promote unthinkable racial hatred.
At the same time, it studiously ignores a weekly slaughter of blacks in too many major cities.
Somewhere in heaven, the author is sitting, his head in his hands, lamenting “What have I done?” Sir, you did wonderfully...others screwed it up.

My, oh my, how the narrative changes. Unemployment was Evil under GWB. Now that it's doubled, it's Funemployment under "The Won".

It was the worst times since the Great Depression.

Help wanted signs everywhere, even on billboards. Just ghastly.

Praise his holy blackness. We now are in the age of jobless recovery where everyone can be an artist. The age of growthless recovery where everyone can enjoy all the time they want with family and friends.

++ Good.

Yeh and don’t forget the housing bubble bust that sank Wall Street in Sept-Oct “08 was caused by the Dem controlled Fannie and Freddy plus the unscrupulous practices of the mortgage lending banks as well. While GWB shouldn’t get too much credit for the low avg unemployment rate during his presidency but the crash of 2008 was clearly not his fault.

They're also helping the Obama Administration lie about the unemployment rate:

And compare that to this from January. Unemployment rate falls to 8.5%, lowest in nearly 3 years

...and who can forget this howler: For the 'funemployed,' unemployment is welcome
