The last paragraph is disturbing. The state legislature has to pass legislation allowing the parents more freedom to decide what their children eat at lunch?

This country is screwed up.

Got that "free" daycare, so what else matters? They have to get the children ready for the next 13 years of schooling by teaching them mindless compliance with authority, or when they're 12 or so, they might LoL at this immense woman lecturing them about proper nutrition ... and then they might question Michelle Obama's moral authority, and then where would we be?

Prime example of a government school. They own your kids. If not for the enlightened teachers lifting the children from their cesspool of ignorance, the child would be forever condemned to the neanderthal class.

I hope I don’t need a sarcasm tag.

When my nephew was in elementary in the 80s, his mother would send him to school with a mustard and lettuce sandwich. No meat. Not variations. Just two slices of white bread with a slather of mustard and a leaf of lettuce.

Why?

Because that was all he would eat. He wouldn’t eat ‘school’ meals. All he wanted was those mustard and lettuce sandwiches.

Even at home, that was about all he would eat. By junior high, he had discovered a liking for hamburgers, though.

My sister did talk to the teachers early in each school year and explain the spartan lunch she sent with him.

You’ve nailed it.

What happens to this drone isn’t the issue at all. She’s a scapegoat.

We should be pulling back laws to fix the govt over-reach, not adding new laws to give citizens bits of freedom that have been usurped.

That line stood out to me as well. If I want my kid to eat PBJ sandwiches with chips and chocolate for dessert, than so be it. Just another reason to homeschool your kids.

When it comes to government collectivist K-12 schooling conservatives are appallingly asleep as to the serious and urgent danger it poses to our freedom. It can not be reformed. It must be abolished because its rotten foundation is collectivism.

Personally, I consider government collectivist schooling to be soooo evil for the child and such a threat to our nation's freedom, that I will no longer have a government teacher for a friend. I am done with them!
