Chicken Nuggets Teacher in North Carolina Breaks Down in Tears and Resigns

(RAEFORD) – The pre-K teacher involved in the “chicken nuggets” incident in Hoke County changed her version of what happened after undergoing three separate interrogations. Margaret Maynor was brought to tears in the third session. She submitted her resignation soon after.

In a highly unusual move, the Hoke County School System released documents from the teacher’s personnel file purportedly showing why the pre-K instructor resigned.

Previous articles reported some students with homemade lunches were given trays of school food because their bag lunches didn’t meet federal nutrition standards. One girl didn’t touch her homemade lunch and just ate three school chicken nuggets.

If this doesn’t prove America has gone crazy, nothing will. A teacher does a dumb thing, a kid goes without her breakfast and the teacher is then interrogated by moronic bureaucrats as if she were a member of the Khymer Rouge. Never mind that the teacher herself is probably a moronic bureaucrat.

The lack of common sense in our country is striking.

Kids have weird appetites. My 18 year old nephew hasn’t eaten since he was weaned. He looks and acts as healthy as an ox.

Something tells me that lard-butt was eating the children’s lunches.

The funny thing, though, is that if you're in a hospital cafeteria and want to make sure you get a really good serving, you need to have the heavy black woman server dish things up for you. I found this to be almost invariable over the course of many meals during graduate school. If there's a skinny line worker, stay away from her. You'll get a tiny portion.

The whole episode is just nuts.

I don't feel sorry for the teacher, but the "interview" sounds remarkably like an interrogation session. I do believe she's been railroaded and scapegoated because I think her actions would have been perfectly fine with the school administration except for the adverse publicity they brought down on the school.

I didn't see anything wrong with the lunch the child brought from home; it sounded as nutritious as the school lunch (I don't exactly think of chicken nuggets when I think of healthy food). If she'd had potato chips, a doughnut and a soda maybe they would have had a point about the nutrition; even then, a call to the mom would have been the way to address the concern (and I would have allowed the kid to eat her lunch then offered her the school lunch).

Kids can be weird about food. Some go through "food fads" where they only want one or two things for a while, then a week or a month later they won't touch that but want something else. Some won't eat particular things, some don't want their food touching or mixed. Others will eat practically anything. I have a nephew who won't eat meat. Even as a baby he would not eat baby food meat, pureed meat, ground meat, any kind of meat. Put it in something and he gags and spits it out. He's the only kid I've ever known who won't eat a hamburger, hot dog, or pepperoni pizza. No fish or chicken, either. He drinks plenty of milk, eats peanut butter and cheese. Odd, but he is healthy.

You’ve nailed it.

What happens to this drone isn’t the issue at all. She’s a scapegoat.

We should be pulling back laws to fix the govt over-reach, not adding new laws to give citizens bits of freedom that have been usurped.

That line stood out to me as well. If I want my kid to eat PBJ sandwiches with chips and chocolate for dessert, than so be it. Just another reason to homeschool your kids.

Look at the picture and suddenly it’s clear why she took away the kid’s lunch and gave her the chicken nuggets.

She kept insisting on coming in, and I kept refusing. I then called the school and spoke to the principal who continued to insist that she had the right to investigate student absences. I was shocked beyond words and felt violated. It was then that I realized how much we give up of our own freedom when we start our children too early in the government schools.

So...how did it end?

You bring up an whole other issue altogether.

How many young girls growing up today, see a major life goal as getting married and raising a family?

How many young girls growing up today see raising a family as more important than their job or career in their future? And how many would make the sacrificies, including perhaps not working outside the home, to make their family the main priority in their lives?

The way the culture has shifted, we may never see those days return.

On the other hand, I’ve heard some disturbing talk of some young girls today, growing up, and hoping to get on public assistance, and who don’t think about getting married. They think if they have a baby, they are taken care of, and it won’t even matter if the dad is in the picture.

“So...how did it end?”
Well, you know the old saying about how you cannot fight City Hall? I recall insisting on my rights as a parent to keep my four year old home if I wanted to. But that is not the case. The prinicpal reiterated with mechanized precision that it is the policy of the district and NYS to investigate any circumstance concerning absenteeism. Now I can understand if the child is older, but a four year old? I had to comply with their policy thereafter since I continued to send her to school. I wanted to homeschool my daughter, but unfortunately I had to work full time and was unable. Years later, when my daughter was in high school, I was once again appalled at the “Day of Silence” that occurred at the school. This was a day devoted to silence by homosexuals and those sympathetic to their lifestyle. It included teachers! I felt that by remaining silent throughout the class time, the teacher was directly trying to influence my child in a direction that was distinctly oppositional to the Christian belief system in which she was being raised. I called the school, and boy did I get the run around. Everyone, oh so politely, kept pawing me off on another bureaucrat. I got literally nowhere, but in the process I learned how incredibly immoral and insidious public education can actually be.

I didn’t realize that cradle to grave indoctrination was fully in force in our country.

It's really free day care. Mom's don't look after ther young children any more.

And Bill Ayers can be thanked for that.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

We should thank socialism for that and our nation's earliest progressives.

Bill Ayers was a self-confessed terrorist. He could not have reached his station of influence without the massive mentoring help provided by sympathetic progressive education professors of my father's generation ( born 1913.)

Compulsory, single-payer, and socialist-entitlement, government K-12 education has **always** been in the control of progressives. It was a progressive idea from its very beginnings in the in 1840’s to early 1900s. Progressives have always controlled teacher training and curriculum development.

I find it difficult to read the comments to these education threads. It is discouraging to me how few conservatives realize that government schooling must be abolished. It is appalling to me that so few conservatives see the urgency of getting our nation's children out of these pits of socialist-Marxist indoctrination. Government schooling can not be reformed because it is built upon a foundation of Marxist collectivism.

Personally,....I have recently made a decision. Government schooling is soooo evil in its consequences for the child, and such a threat to nation's freedom, that I will no longer have a government teacher for a friend. They are either too evil, too stupid, or too much of a Useful Idiot to be a friend. ( I wouldn't have an abortion worker for a friend either.)

She’s just another commie teacher mis-educating our youth.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

She is likely a mindless and hopelessly indoctrinated Useful Idiot of very modest intelligence and creativity.

Who **loves** her students, of course! /s

Please remember, that on average, education majors have the lowest SAT scores on campus. SAT scores and intelligence are directly correlated. So?....If someone claims that their wife, sister-in-law, or whatever, is a great teacher and very intelligent, that means that somewhere out in education-land is a very **stupid** teacher who is averaging out those who do have high SAT scores.

She's an out of control leftist thug. She should have been fired and charged with willful child abuse.

Exactly. And sued personally and stripped of her teaching license.

I don't believe any population in the country is as wildly out of control and abusive as public school teachers. They are utterly protected, and told to enforce utterly degrading and psychologically destructive agendas, which they do with relish, glee, abandon and sadism. They are horrifying.
