ormer Florida Governor Jeb Bush endorsed Mitt Romney after Romneys lopsided win in Illinois Tuesday night. The former Florida Governor a Republican heavyweight called on members of the party to coalesce behind Romney.
Congratulations to Governor Mitt Romney on his win last night and to all the candidates for a hard fought, thoughtful debate and primary season, said Bush in a statement. Primary elections have been held in thirty-four states, and now is the time for Republicans to unite behind Governor Romney and take our message of fiscal conservatism and job creation to all voters this fall. I am endorsing Mitt Romney for our Partys nomination. We face huge challenges, and we need a leader who understands the economy, recognizes more government regulation is not the answer, believes in entrepreneurial capitalism and works to ensure that all Americans have the opportunity to succeed.
Bush, the brother of former President George W. Bush, is a much-respected voice in the party and was considered by some to be a leading contender for the nomination if he had d was courted by some conservatives as an alternative candidate. But he rejected calls for his candidacy. Romney also won the primary in Bushs home state of Florida.
His father, former President George H.W. Bush has also endorsed Romney.

VP Jeb?
RINO’s on pararde.
One thing thats clear is the media is delighted with Romney's success.
“Bush, the brother of former President George W. Bush, is a much-respected voice in the party...”
Why is it I don’t feel like a Republican anymore?
Who remembers the picture taken in February of Bush 41 and Jeb yucking it up with the evil bastard in the Oval Office?
Sickening.
Sure they want Romney.
Pardon me while I check to see if the Pope is still Catholic.
Please no.
While things are no totally over for Santorum and certainly over for Gingrich, I think we have to resign ourselves to Romney being the GOP nominee. Despite Romney’s shortcomings on conservative principles he would be infinitely better as President than a second term for Obama. What conservatives need to do is stick to our principles and see that Romney runs to the right of center and picks a team that includes many conservatives. We have to avoid the mealy mouthed middle of the road lets compromise with liberals that was the hallmark of the McCane disaster. Obama is beatable if we stick to his record and put some fire in Romney’s belly.
Yep. That's all it is. If Romney is the Nominee, Obama will win in a landslide. What an easy orchestration by the MSM and the left.....and for anyone who supported Romney.
Rino’s humping Rino’s.
RINOs of a feather.
Papa Bush 41 did....and Babs too.
but I never heard 43 or Jeb before...
but they are all good RINOs
While things are no totally over for Santorum and certainly over for Gingrich, I think we have to resign ourselves to Romney being the GOP nominee.
I’m already making peace with a second Obama term. Now how can we best help his opposition in Congress?
All we need now is for Chamberlain to come back from Munich waving a piece of paper.
Well, what I also think you have to resign yourself to, is that Romney is going to stammer and stutter and flub and stumble throughout the fall — and Obama is going to saunter right back into office.
We, the ABO crowed, have ensured ourselves another loss in the general election if this bumbler manages to get the nomination.
I, myself, prefer to hold out hope for a brokered convention, and for another more lethal candidate, or, preferably Newt, to arise out of the ashes. Either that, or just let Obama get in and let the entire THING collapse like a house of cards.
Ok, and then if Romney gets in as prez, we get to see him up there, again, stammering, stumbling, and made a mockery of by the clowns and bullies who have resided in Congress for umpteen million years. We’ll watch him “try” to enact conservative policies, yet fail because he’s not strong enough as president or in his convictions to fight them off. And we don’t even KNOW what sort of Congress we’ll be dealing with in 2012.
I’d rather see it all just crash and burn and then start over. It would be less painful.
He, like the rest of the Bushes, is a Rockefeller Republican at heart.
Gee—Coulda knocked me over with a cannonball.
Like the rest of the Bush’s he is NWO at heart.
“Jeb is Catholic so I guess it would be too much to ask for him to endorse a fellow Catholic like Newt or Rick.”
I don’t WANT someone to be endorsed because they’re Catholic, or black, or female or anything OTHER than “they’re the best person for the job.”
They can’t stand Newt, so the fact that he’s Catholic doesn’t help with that endorsement wish you have. And as for Rick, since he made his name on social issues, that’s anthema to the elitists...to make your identity on those.
Not only does Romneys coronation get rid of the Tea Party and conservatives for Rove and his GOP-E Country Club Status Quo bunch, it helps the dems keep the continuity of their schtick.
Obama and Romney are IDENTICAL politically, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the VERY important decision on permanently totally repealing Obamacare.
Obama can counter every political Romney arguement with I know YOU are, but what am I and clobber him over the head HARD with the 99% crap that hes a 1%er.
Geeee....that only leaves ONE itty - bitty difference.
Wanna guess what THAT is??????
Try skin pigmentation.
It worked for Obama BIG TIME in 2008. Romney is the ONLY candidate they can REALLY use it on because they are identical in almost every other way.
Romney WON'T attack Obama like he has Newt, because they will pin the "racist" tag on him so fast that his head will spin faster that his political flip-flops.
So Myth will "play nice" with Obama, he'll try to get everyone to sing "America The Beautiful" ( the fake crap he seemed to be doing at ALL his Florida stops) and get KILLED in Nov, as is the GOP-e"plan" , except Romney AND Rick don't seem to see it......YET.
Santorum WILL be "handed" the VP slot (as his "reward" for helping Romney AND Rove in taking out Newt,) to "shut up" the "Santorum" and Tea Party "Conservative" people and with Romney's defeat, ensure Santorum won't be a "problem" to Rove and the GOP-E EVER AGAIN. With the Tea Party out of the way of BOTH parties for 2012 and 2016, Romney out of the way for 2012 AND 2016, the dems TOTALLY despised after 8 years of Obama, Rove and the boys can run Jeb for 2016 with NOBODY in their way.
It's a "two-fer" that helps the dems AND the GOP-E continue "business-as-usual".
OBTW, The pic below was taken Friday afternoon Jan27th, 2012 , the day after "Bloody-Up Newt" Thursday by every GOP-E Country Clubber in this particular corner of the universe.

How many photos of those three together have YOU seen??
Pretty much ALL the polls earlier in the week had Newt leading in Florida, until the "suddenly" orchestrated GOP-E Newt attack which culminated Thursday before the debate, and THEN on Friday, I see THIS photo??
What in the heck could the three of them "constructively" have important enough in common to "get together" and talk about??
Maybe Barry just wanted to ask them over to find out how "W" was doin', you know, the son and brother of the two guys in the pic who he STILL TO THIS MINUTE blames EVERYTHING bad that has happened to date in his administration on and two years before he replaced him in office???
Yeah, that's the ticket.
I have an idea, and I mentioned it in the post above the pic..
Newt and Sarah have been TRYING to warn the Tea Party and Conservatives about this BIG TIME!!
(ping to #23!)
(sarcasm)
so has NPR, it sounds like. Go figure.
No Romney, period! If he’s the nominee, then I’m writing in Sarah Palin’s name. The GOP-E deserves what it gets.
The bloody up Newt Thursday you reference worked quite well for them.
Many conservatives left Newt for Santorum.
Many who were undecided went with Santorum.
Deciding Newt couldn’t win because of the clobbering he took.
Self fulfilling prophecy.
Now go away and forget about aspirations about elected office at the national level.
This entire primary has been rigged after they seen what happened in those debates. The party just knew this thing was all Mitt's. I hope we can stop them. Newt is the man we need, not Romney.
Talk about anti-climactic! Who didn’t see this one coming?
“Im already making peace with a second Obama term. Now how can we best help his opposition in Congress?”
You and your ilk on FR are a bunch of f’ing losers!
you’ve talked yourseves into supporting and enabling 0 to continue destroying for another four years.
A voice of reason, pragmatism and reality virtually extinct on FR these days......
Jeb Bush is a parasite as is most of his family.
Oh, one more thing Jebby. You could have saved that woman from being starved to death but instead you were a wimp. Just looking at Jeb Bush makes me want to puke.
I just threw up in my mouth a little.
Not enough for the political groupies?
Bush then welcomed in more Muslims after 911 than in the previous two decades.
We were totally betrayed by the Bush family.
“Why is it I dont feel like a Republican anymore?”
I didnt leave the Democratic Party. The party left me.
Ronald Reagan, 1962.
I've had the feeling for years. Why won't the GOP-e adopt Reaganism? Reagan proved its a winning strategy. Even Clinton partially adopted it.
I think the permanent ruling class wants to keep the average American struggling and heavily in debt.
Re: they republican establishment gave us Dole and McCain, enough said.
“Despite Romneys shortcomings on conservative principles he would be infinitely better as President than a second term for Obama.”
Just as Heinrich Himmler proved to be a more competent administrator than Ernst Rohm. Fact.
No sale, no Willard, not now, not ever.
Another fact is, most of these political insiders are all riding in the same limo. Some can't figure it out, others will never admit it.
The only choice the Republican party will be given, is Romney. The fix is in.
There ya have it folks...
Hold your nose, cover your eyes, and vote for the better evil..
How predictable is all this?
I consider it the curse of coming to the place where your eyes are wide open, while those around you continue to lurch around in the political darkness.
Truth be told, the Republican party never represented our views. It's only now that we have come to a point where we see what it has been up to for decades.
We've got two parties that are craven Leftists. Even the best of players on our side have serious flaws.
We need someone who can reach out across party lines (and yes I know what folks will think when they see that lead...) in a healthy manner, and reconcile the chasm between us. Where is Ronald Reagan when we desperately need him again?
Given a Republican Congress, you wonder how much more the man could have accomplished.
[VP Jeb?]
Obviously.......
They are all on one team...I'm on the other...
*Anyone* who is endorsed by a Bush, will never, ever receive my support, because it won't matter anyway.
How predictable is all this?
In a 2 party system? Very predictable. You will probably have the opportunity to vote for a national candidate you are genuinely excited to cast a ballot for maybe once or twice in your life. For probably most us, that was Reagan. Voting for the lesser of 2 evils is what happens in a system where there is no opportunity for coalition building.
I agree completely. Time to bite down hard.
True Ill.,just another blue state to that will go obama in the fall
