When Bob Kerrey registered to vote last month in Douglas County and listed his sister's address as his home swearing under oath that it was his residence he fully intended to live there for some time, he said Monday.
A day later, Kerrey said, he lucked out in finding his own place when real estate developer Jay Noddle offered to let him live in his guest home.
I thought it would take longer to establish residency, Kerrey said in an interview Monday. I lucked out.

It sure doesn’t pass the smell test.
One would think you would have to own property in the state in which you are running for election.
Otherwise, a person could “live in someone’s guest house” or other temporary dwellings and actually live in their New York apartment—or whatever........
Wasn’t that once know as “carpet bagging”?
I lucked out.
Funny how lucky the powerful are.
‘Scuse me. When he swears that he lives some place, he’s suppposed to live thare — already live there. Intentions do not count when it comes to voter registration. Furthermore, most jurisdictions require that you show proof of residencey — usually mail addressed to you at the address you provide.
Apparently, if you aren't there in person to swear you live there, you are required to show some sign you are receiving mail at that name & address.
The big thing to me is how "lucky" he was. I don't have any real estate developer friends who would provide me with a 'guest house' to call my own...
What a bunch of BS
Well, you figure that since Bob Kerrey is a good Democrat, that this is supposed to be a non-story.
Since he used to live in Nebraska, when he was a Senator years ago, he takes for granted that he can bend whatever laws or regulations are in place for this sort of thing. He doesn’t want to let the fact that he hasn’t lived in Nebraska for years stop him from running for office there.
And we know about the fake residences in New York set up by the likes of Bobby Kennedy and Hillary Clinton so they could run for Senate in that state.
Democrats pick a state and decide to run for office. They don’t care if they actually live in the state they want to represent. The laws regarding residency and such do not apply to good Democrats, or to prominent people such as Kerrey.
Isn’t Kerrey wealthy enough to buy a friggin house in a nice suburb of Lincoln or Omaha, and declare that’s where he lives? I can’t believe he had to go through all of this, then luck out by someone finding him a guest house.
The regulations you mention do NOT apply to good Democrats.
Since Kerrey once lived in and was a Senator from Nebraska, he feels a divine right of sorts to declare he wants to live there again and run for political office.
Technicalities such as his not actually living there don’t matter to good Democrats.
THis doesn’t seem to be restricted to Democrats, unfortunately. We have a similar case regarding a RINO — Sen. Dick Lugar who, apparently, does not seem to think that keeping a domicile in Indiana is a prerequisite for representing Indiana.
Well, Lugar should be called on the carpet too, if he really doesn’t live in Indiana. I agree.
The basic intention of a representative Congress is that the people there are from the places they represent. If they don’t actually live in these places, they shouldn’t be there. That applies to any Republicans who violate that basic concept.
They all do this. Here in Iowa we have some on our side doing the same thing.
Since New York has only had one Senator in residence several times (Bobby Kennedy, Hillary Clinton . . .) they figured they should have three for awhile.
Crooked as a Snake.
Apparently Lugar hasn’t lived in Indeiana since he first was elected. He sold his house in Indiana and moved to DC and has not maintained a home in IN since.
Come'on Vet, it's only an oath.
If he really meant it, that would be one thing, but since he's a demonRAT, here comes a
