President Obama blasted his Republican critics Thursday for their resistance to investing in alternative energy sources, comparing their stance to the beliefs of those who thought that Columbus would sail off the edge of the world.
In another in a series of speeches defending his energy policies, Obama touted his push for green energy growth including wind and solar power, electric cars and biofuels as a way to help wean the nation from a dependence on foreign oil. And he mocked his rivals for failing to embrace his ideas.
If some of these folks were around when Columbus set sail, they probably must have been founding members of the flat earth society. They would not believe that the world was round, Obama told an enthusiastic crowd of hundreds of students at Prince Georges Community College in Largo. Maybe they would have agreed with one of the pioneers of the radio who apparently said, Television wont last. Its a flash in the pan.

Bunch’a stinkin realists. LOL
Show us the VIABLE TODAY, “green energy” solution that allows our economy to function at its present level and allows the individual the freedom to travel as we do today.
Until that VIABLE TODAY “green energy” source exists,
we need oil, and we need it unrestricted.
All a Republican has to do is tell him to look at what a disaster Spain has become due to doing the same thing as zero is doing.
Well, besides the fact Columbus did not think the earth was flat, I am going to go with it is otherwise maps would be round.
I heard that the new light bulbs they want us to get are $50 each. Let’s see.... no raises in about 4 years. Increasing state and local taxes, increasing health care costs, gasoline is double what what it was 3 years ago, food costs are increasing at blazing speeds. And we are the lucky ones who have, so far, not had to deal with layoffs and unemployment.
Of course, as we have heard, we are in some fabulous “economic recovery” at this time. So we can all buy the good light bulbs to show our support for 0bama’s green energy development plans. Let me go ahead and jump on the green energy bandwagon. We’ll just makes some sacrifices. Can’t decide whether we give up food or electricity...
He’s so out of touch with the reality of everyday life for most people.
Uh huh. Barry probably must have been enjoying being especially petty.
AGW models were based on a flat, non-rotating, sunshine all the time earth.
I am actually surprised that his political staff is not cautioning the President regarding how much steam the AGW movement has lost in the last few years.
The only viable green energy sources today are nuclear and hydro. Nuclear is at a near dead stop and the greentard morons can’t tear dams out fast enough.
Bump
Its been a total disaster. They are going on over 25% unemployment, 50% among young people. Those are worst than the Great Depression numbers in this country. The only major European country doing well on the energy front is France. Lowest electricity costs per capita, lowest greenhouse gas emissions per capita, most stable employment. Why? Two words: nuclear power. The facts are right there in front of them staring them in the face, but no one in the media will talk about it.
This is why conservatives are at a disadvantage, and have no inclination of doing anything about it.
People (I had to edit out the “B” word) like him and his kind have no problem attacking and mocking.
For some reason, conservatives, who would have a much more accurate and target-rich environment for truth, sarcasm and humor at the expense of liberals, won’t.
Granted, there are many liberals who cannot connect on any issue if there is not a sarcastic soundbite from the likes of Obama, so that works for his base.
I would like a debate of the issues, but does anyone ever see that happening? We have to learn to fight back.
There’s nothing at all wrong with “green” energy, once it becomes cost competitive with fossil fuels. But instead of waiting until that happens naturally as a result of improved technology, the regime is trying to increase non-green energy costs to the point where the overpriced technologies become competitive.
Of course, this will all be moot when UN Agenda 21 is fully implemented and the world population is reduced by 85%.
But.....
Algae is formed in still waters.
Now, tell me who is a flat earth fan.
This from a guy who probably can’t understand basic Euclidian Plane Geometry.
Thus, my assertion, from the actual results of the policies that they are implementing,
that they don’t really want “green” energy as much as they want “no” energy (for us at least).
But don't you get it? All that freedom to travel is a danger to the regime...More UN Agenda 21. Pack 'em all (except, of course the elite) into Soviet-style apartment blocks, where they are more easily controlled.
The "Flat Earth" was the settled science of the time.
It was precisely flat-Earth deniers of the time who rejected the notion of a flat Earth.
It's how they collect useful idiots. They run scare stories - sky is falling stuff - and offer their 'chosen' a chance to "save the world".
Elites have used Silent Spring, Club of Rome, Population Bomb, Nuclear Winter, Global Warming, Peak Oil, Peak Natural Resources.. etc. etc. Each was a lie - each brought in wide-eyed intelligent - but totally naive - young to be transformed to useful idiots. Some with grants - some with jobs to lie and destroy. Slowing turning the innocent into the corrupt. Useful ... useful idiots.
...and Obama believes that communism would have worked if only those countries had the right guy LIKE HIM in charge explaining to the serfs, and if it was phased in correctly like Obama-care is being phased in, so some voters blame the companies for the governments blunders while thinking they are getting free goodies.
Nor about anything that will displease the regime. They are afraid for their personal safety, plus they won't get invites to the really good cocktail parties!
“In another in a series of speeches defending his energy policies, Obama touted his push for green energy growth including wind and solar power, electric cars and biofuels as a way to help wean the nation from a dependence on foreign oil. And he mocked his rivals for failing to embrace his ideas.”
So, Obama is telling America that we need to divest ourselves of proven energy technologies and give up our freedoms and embrace technologies based on environmental factors we are told by the same administration are killing us.
And people believe this?
“...allows the individual the freedom to travel as we do today.
But don’t you get it? All that freedom to travel is a danger to the regime...More UN Agenda 21. Pack ‘em all (except, of course the elite) into Soviet-style apartment blocks, where they are more easily controlled.”
Absolutely spot-on. Freedom is what the Communists are all against, and when an individual has to take public transportation instead of driving his own vehicle, control can be taken over him.
It is why they love those stupid light-rail trains that nobody wants to ride. It is also why there is an escalating war on suburbia and rural families. If more of them are forced to live in the cities where union thugs roam, they can be controlled much more easily.
And Obama and the democrats are like Gaia Worshipping neo-pagans.
Is that an actual picture of him at a gas station, claiming “elect me and I’ll lower gas prices” and now he’s criticizing Republicans?
Pot, kettle much?
Maybe if Obama could show where the tax dollars he has invested in alternative energy scams have paid off, Republicans could be enticed to get in on the game. We aren’t going to get alternative energies by bankrupting the public with failed schemes and artificially high energy prices. We will get new and improved ways of producing energy by creating a wealthy, strong, independent nation again. Reality has to be accepted first, and that reality for now is oil. We have domestic access to all of it we need, if we would only take advantage of it.
Cant decide whether we give up food or electricity...
If you give electricity, your $50 bulbs will last
a long time.
If you give up food, your $50 bulbs will out live
you.
Obama, Win-Win.
Obama's idea of Green Energy is blowing taxpayer "green" on politically connected companies.
Taxpayer money down the rat hole - and kickbacks up the wazoo... Gotta love elite dems - getting their shills in the media to carry water for them - they're shameless.
How about the Democrat-Media Complex so a little independent reporting - like how much taxpayer money was spent on the boondoggles - and EXACTLY what did we GET in return. Not what we 'might' get, 'could' get, 'dream' of getting. But what did we get?
The little butt kissers won't do that story.

Better “flat earth” than O’Bastard’s “scorched earth”.
No one I know opposes “green energy.” Reasonable people realize, however, that UNTIL it gets here, oil is needed. If Obama thinks he has no control over oil and gas prices, he SURELY has even less control over making green technology work. What advances in alternative energy TECHNOLOGY (not funding) have we seen result from any government policies under Obama? None.
“flat earth”
Obama’s adviser on race relations was busy rooting out Koreans in the `hood http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/03/13/Al%20Sharpton%20Slut-Gate
but the president’s environmental adviser, Danny Glover, was asked to comment: “Lissen up suckas—global warming causes earthquakes. Word!”

Well, it sounds like the light bulbs really ARE a bargain, then!
I have a swimming pool that would prove "that ain't necessarily so".
Algae as an energy source has the same drawbacks as any solar project. It doesn't work at night, on cloudy days, when buried under 2 feet of snow, &c. Because the sun puts out about 84 watts per square yard, you need lots of area to intercept enough energy to do anything useful whether photo-voltaic electricity, heating water for your home, or growing green slime. The state of "green energy" at this stage of the game is "NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME"! There is no way that it could maintain our current economy/life style.
Regards,
GtG
“84 watts per square yard”
So, if you have 30 lights and other electrical sources in your home that need 75 watts each, you will need....well, it’s more land than I own, that’s for dang sure. Then, there’s the whole air conditioning and refrigeration issue.
I used to correspond with a biomass guy. I couldn’t get my arms wrapped around the concept’s viability. I figured we’d need something the size of the Pacific to get to a real product.

Eleven government departments and agencies operate a total of 94 programs
Obamas fiscal 2013 budget calls for $6.7 billion in funding for clean energy programs across the federal government, a $760 million increase over 2012 spending levels.
Flat earth society? Bacrock, you’re the jerkoff in the way when it comes to harvesting our domestic energy.
Barack Hussein Obama (mmm mmm mmm) is a lying punk.
I have no problem with the idea of green energy. Just don’t use my money to waste it.
Hey Obama: you lost half a billion dollars to that waste of a company Solyndra. Let me correct myself: you SPENT HALF A BILLION DOLLARS OF OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY on Solyndra.
See, maybe this clown Obama can spend his OWN MONEY on green energy. Then he can see what kind of return he’ll get.
Republicans, and conservatives in general, are pro-capitalism. Pro-freedom. If green energy were so kick ass, we’d invest in the stuff. It sucks, and so we don’t.

Re: #3. Lolz.
You win! No one can compete with that post.
What a d-bag, he is.
Obama is calculating and manipulative. However, if he is not hell bent on distroying America/capitalism, he is incompetent and really kind of an idiot. Like Most Prog/Commies. its hard to tell sometimes.
The Volt is a perfect symbol of Obamanism and the green movement. Its an electric car that get most of its energy from coal fired generators. Beside that if 1 out of 5 people owned a volt it would fry our half antiqated grid.
Otherwise,Green equals one part quasi-science one part magic ferry dust, and one part angry radicalism.
Wasn’t the consensus or “settled science” that the Earth was flat at the time?
You do realize that’s a myth I hope. In Columbus’ day it was common knowledge that the Earth was a sphere; in fact they also had a very accurate measurement for the Earth’s diameter (actually the polar diameter only, slightly less than the equatorial). Conventional wisdom at the time knew that the Far East was too far west to sail directly across the ocean (check a globe if you doubt it). Of course what neither conventional wisdom nor Colombus knew at the time was that a huge landmass was to be found a reasonable distance due west from Europe.
This all sounds so similar to ethanol. In its beginning days, “gasohol” was touted as the fuel of the future to wean us off gasoline. But it wasn’t economically viable, yet, so was given tax breaks for years as it was developed and improved upon to see if it could become VIABLE. There were other technological problems to overcome as well.
Well, lo and behold, 30 years later, even with much higher gas prices, it still had problems and still wasn’t economically VIABLE, so the Dums in congress decided to MANDATE it to replace 1% of our oil usage.
Now, of course, Obummer has trumped all by bypassing the middlemen (developers and congress) and just giving away our money to these green companies whose energies wont make a lick of difference in our energy usage for at least 20 years, while refusing to expand drilling because “we won’t see any oil from those wells for ten years.”
