KENNER, La. (AP) — Kenner police have arrested an illegal immigrant living in LaPlace in connection with a fraudulent tax scam.

Police said Tuesday that $20,000 was seized as evidence from his vehicle.

Illegals are buying fictitious W-2 forms for $1,500, which my question would how big of a tax refund will a fictitious W-2 form bring in ? It would have to exceed $1,500.I do not know about the rest of you, however time after time, supporters maintain, illegals cannot get tax refunds and at the same time they complain the illegals who do pay income taxes with fake or stolen documents also question, why do we not get the same benefits as all others who use these same documents legally ?

If the income level is in the right window of earnings he would be able to get back all taxes listed as paid on the W-2 plus an earned income tax credit, plus child credits for any bogus children he filed for.

Since the guy had 20k in the car I am betting he has done this over and over.

Old Scam, been going on for years. The IRS computers DO NOT look for a match on the W-2 you send in to see if the employer’s 941 matches the information. Basically ANYONE can apply for and receive a Tax Refund after creating a Bogus W-2 and filing a Return based on that. usually 3-5 weeks to get paid. It will take the IRS 6-9 months to figure out their error, and Julio Smith doesn’t exist once the check is cashed. This goes on every year, a lot of it used to come from our Prisons, but it has spread.

Illegals typically have no money withheld for federal income tax. They don’t have valid social security numbers. The IRS gives them Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN’s). They file tax returns with their anchor babies listed as dependent children. The anchor babies have valid social security numbers. The illegal alien, who had zero federal income tax withheld, then recieves a refund from the IRS because the child tax credit is a refundable credit. There was a move afoot in congress to stop this multi billion dollar scam but the GOP chickened out when La Raza started to scream “racism.”

According to IRS publications, you cannot get the refundable Earned Income Tax Credit with the ITIN, but the illegals can and do collect the child tax credit. A refundable tax credit is a credit that not only reduces any tax owed, but actually comes back to you if you have little or zero income tax liability.
