Rep. Donald Payne, a New Jersey Democrat first elected to Congress in 1988, has died after a battle with colon cancer. He was 77.
Payne just went public with his illness last month. At the time, he vowed to fight the disease, saying his doctors expect my full recovery, as do I. But as his condition deteriorated, he was flown from Washington to New Jersey in early March on a medical transport.
He passed away on Tuesday, according to news reports confirmed by a congressional aide.

Well, we can hope it was not painful and somehow they had him sedated enough. Yeah, that’s a bad one alright.

RIP. I wonder if the Christie is going to put the flag at half mast.

It’s a horrible disease. Condolences to his loved ones.

RIP. Any chance of replacing him with a Republican?

Of course. Why wouldn’t he? Don’t you think a Congressman deserves it?

RIP. Any chance of replacing him with a Republican? Surely you can't be serious.
We'll be lucky if his replacement isn't as looney as Sheila Jackson Lee.

"Of course. Why wouldnt he? Dont you think a Congressman deserves it?"He was a congressman. Being a convincing liar to a sufficient number of people for enough years to get an enormous pension is NOT a recommendation for any postmortem honors...

A life of proud accomplishment.
His lifetime ACU record was 3.1, which easily earns him a place in the land of everylasting sunshine.

“He was a congressman.”
Exactly. That’s why he deserves for Christie to lower the flag to half mast. (whether you like him or politicians in general, or not)

My mother had it too. Treatment for her was worse than the disease. 3 weeks of it flattened her. Stroke, neutropenia, blockage..just awful. Took her a month just to get out of the hospital and another two in rehab. She never touched chemo again. She made it another 3 years, 2 of which she had a fairly decent quality of life. I miss her dearly.
My sympathies to him and his family.

John Conyers, Jim Clyburn, Danny K Davis, Jesse Jackson Jr, Carolyn Kilpatrick, Sheila Jackson Lee...
All corrupt, and yet you feel that they should be honored, state wide if not nationwide, for the position they hold that enables their thefts...
Please reconsider the value to society that these people have, and their relative worth as compared to, say, the owners of Google, or a used car salesman.
