I would love to see Gingrich come in first or second in TN. He’s going to win hands down in GA, and may prevent the other two from getting any delegates. With Santorum tying Romney in OH, Gingich may be on the rise again after Super Tuesday.

I can’t wait to vote for Gingrich tomorrow.

Sometimes those extra few votes are created when we offer to drive neighbors, elderly, friends from church to vote.

If each Newt person just took one more Newt person, TN would be Newtnational.

Does someone else have ballot/delegate problems in TN, or are you saying that he has problems in other states? I’m sorry, I haven’t heard this. I know that only Romney and Paul are on the ballot in VA, and I heard Santorum has problems in Ohio. I have not heard anything in TN, is there something I’ve missed? Thanks in advance! And either way, good to hear, he’s coming up again. Thanks for posting.

Agreed. Having been in Washington so long is a double edged sword. I hope (as I believe it has) that his conversion has made him a better man. A Gingrich/West ticket may be the best we can hope for right now. Can you imagine those two? They certainly wouldn’t be taking people’s (MEDIA ESPECIALLY!) crap; that, I’m pretty confident about.

Yes.

Santorum failed to field any delegates in Tennessee, which means that even if he wins the state, he needs to GOP-E to choose to award him delegates LATER, if they so choose. They will be under absolutely no obligation to do so.

On the other hand, Newt fielded delegates, and a win of the state guarantees Newt will walk away with the majority of delegates.

Doubt that Newt wins more than his home state of Georgia tomorrow. He’ll very likely go one for ten. Or two for 23 overall when you count SC.

As for Tennessee...

Poll Date Sample Santorum Romney Gingrich Paul Spread

RCP Average 3/3 - 3/4 — 32.3 29.7 24.7 9.3 Santorum +2.6

Again Newt is ONLY helping Willard have a better Super Tuesday (and primary election cycle) than any Massachusetts liberal deserves.

Bottom line:

We must unite the two conservatives, Rick & Newt to defeat the two liberals, Willard & Barack.

Newt is rising in TN, Rick is falling.

If Santorum wins the state, Romney walks away with a majority of its delegates because Rick failed to field any delegates by the deadline.

If Newt wins TN, he walks away with the majority of its delegates.

Newt is the smart vote in the state of TN.

The TN delegate allocation formular:

Tuesday 6 March 2012: 55 of Tennessee's 58 delegates to the Republican National Convention are pledged to presidential contenders in today's Tennessee Presidential Primary.

27 district delegates, 3 from each of the 9 congressional districts, are to be allocated to the presidential contenders based on the primary results in each congressional district. [ByLaws of the Tennessee Republican Party. Article IX. Rule C. Section 1. and Section 4A.]

  • If a candidate receives more than 2/3 of the vote in a congressional district, that candidate receives all 3 delegates.
  • Otherwise, if only 1 candidate receives 20% or more of the vote, that candidate receives all 3 delegates.
  • Otherwise, if 2 or more candidates receive more than 20% of the vote, the highest vote getter receives 2 delegates and the next highest vote getter receives 1 delegate.
  • Otherwise, the top 3 vote getters each receive 1 delegate.
  • The district delegates are directly elected and appear on the primary ballot.

The 28 At-Large delegates are bound "winner-take-most" to presidential contenders based on the primary results statewide. [Article IX. Rule C. Section 1. and Section 4B.]

  • If a candidate receives more than 2/3 of the vote statewide, that candidate receives all 28 delegates.
  • Otherwise, if only 1 candidate receives 20% or more of the vote, that candidate receives all 28 delegates.
  • Otherwise, if 2 or more candidates receive more than 20% of the vote, the delegates are distributed proportionally to those candidates receiving more than 20% of the statewide vote. (Here, the "total qualified vote" is the total number of votes cast to those candidates receiving more than 20% of the statewide vote.)
  • Otherwise, delegates are distributed proportionally. (The "total qualified vote" = total statewide vote.)
  • One half of the at-large delegates are directly elected and appear on the primary ballot.

Proportional distribution and rounding: Beginning with the candidate who received the most votes, multiply [the percentage of votes received] by [28 National Convention Delegates] and divide by [total qualified vote]. Round any remainder up to the next whole number. Repeat for the next highest vote getter until all 28 delegates are allocated.

The 28 At-Large delegates include the 10 "at-large" and 18 bonus delegates apportioned to Tennessee. They do not include the 3 RNC delegates. These delegates are bound to Presidential candidates based on the results of the primary. Half are elected in the primary and half are appointed by the Executive Committee with the consent of the respective Presidential campaigns. When determining "half" divide the total number of At-Large delegates by 2. If there are fractional delegates, round up the number of delegates appointed by the Executive Committee and round down the number of delegates determined by the Primary. [Article IX. Rule C. Section 2.]

  • Remaining Delegates: 58 total - 27 district - 3 party leader delegates = 28.
  • Take half: 28 ÷ 2 = 14.
  • No rounding is necessary: 14 are elected in the Primary and 14 are appointed by the Executive Committee.

So many of the Santorum supporters on this site fail to realize this contest is about COMMITTED delegates. Any uncommitted delegate will vote for Romney on the first ballot.

Santorum's win of the so-called Trifecta a couple weeks back meant absolutely NOTHING. Zero.

Those states awarded a perfect ZERO committed delegates.

Wow, I did not know that. Thanks for that update. I saw (online) the Chris Wallace interview from yesterday, where he asked him about that (seems like I heard both states, now that you mention it), and his excuse was “I was polling at 2%, and didn’t have the organization,” or some such. To me, it looked really, really bad to put it that way. I think a smarter move would be to say “At the early stage, the campaign didn’t have the funds.” But hey, I guess pointing out your unpopularity might have seemed good at the time.

RC2, you were doing well until the 2nd sentence. You feel the establishment “won’t let him” win? Well, last time I checked, the voters STILL get to decide who wins the nomination, and then the election ....the problem is, we conservative VOTERS can’t get our act together and UNITE.

Just STOP with this defeatest wobbly talk and BE positive!! Unite behind Newt and We the People can show the Establishment where to STEP OFF!!!

I wish more people realize ...there are WAY more of us than of them. Romney DEPRESSES turnout. This is a fact.

Newt WILL provide the starkest contract on EVERY front to Obama. Santorum, although a good man, isn’t up to the job and does NOT possess the statesmanlike demeanor or grasp of history as does Newt.

Don’t go so wobby on us ... we can’t win that way.

The Washington Times has apparently suggested a sticky note campaign where you post a sticky note on gas pumps that say something like...

Dear Voter,
Did you know that when Obama took office on January 20, 2009, the national average for a gallon of gasoline was $1.84. Keep that in mind when you vote in November. 2012.

Anyone but Obama 2012.

(I’d add, GO NEWT!)

Here’s a link where you can buy preprinted sticky notes.

I was on the ground in SC, on the phones, and door to door. There were almost 10,000 calls made in SC the last 2 weeks... and the last 2 or 3 days, you could feel the momentum changing on the phones... Earlier, it was maybe 2 Newts out of 10, and by the day before the vote, it was 8 out of 10 for Newt. You could feel the change, and it happened very quickly in the final 72 hours. Newt went out of his way to salute the phone call and grassroots efforts in SC... please... please... there is still time to call for Newt, and get involved for Newt...

From Newt 2012: friday

Field and Phone Leaders, CALLING ALL HANDS ON DECK!!

Our national phone team has successfully called through the original 18,000 volunteer sign-ups. This has resulted in a refined list of volunteer prospects for all 50 states. In 3 weeks our national call team has increased by 300%, or 50 new people per week.

Our increased call capacity will help us now begin to make calls into “Super Tuesday” states or those close by that can assist and or deploy to active states.

... YOU CAN NOW CHOOSE THE STATE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO CALL

http://newtsnetwork.com/ (click Make the CAll in upper right hand corner)

NOTE: The list filters itself by time zones. It will not show you California at 10am Eastern Time because that is 7am Pacific Time and too early to call there. Once a state’s call list opens up the state name will be added to the dropdown list for you to call. (And in the reverse, Eastern Time Zones will be removed from the list as the night wears on.)

This new reality will enable us to be highly flexible in how we operate and target prospects for GOTV and or volunteer recruitment.

Please disseminate this information to your call teams and volunteer lists.
Thank you

I never heard you complain when Santorum busted one on Newt as he was going into Florida already overwhelmed by millions of smear ads.

The talk was even that Ricky, at that point, would be getting out, but still he found time to take that parting shot at Newt.

We must unite the two conservatives, Rick & Newt

There are a lot of us who don't consider Santorum the kind of conservative we'd like to support. If Newt wasn't in this race, Santorum would not be my alternate choice anyway. It's fine for Santorum folks to support their guy, but y'all shouldn't assume that all other conservatives seem him as an acceptable choice versus anyone other than Obama.

Check out Post #16.

Rick’s wins have very little to do with obtaining actually *committed* delegates. Where he did win were certainly in low delegate states.

TN will be one more hollow delegate win for him, if he manages to hold on at all, but NOT for Newt, who worked the delegates.

In Florida, we did a sticky-note campaign, with prices from Obama’s inauguration day... for a loaf of bread, for example, then the price for today, and putting them on the grocery shelves where the products are located. We even got the prices for choc chip cookies! As well as gas pumps.

something like:

Loaf of Bread Obama Inauguration Day $____.
Loaf of Bread today $____.

Had Enough? Newt Gingrich balanced the budget 4 times, created 11 million job, yada yada, whatever will fit on the sticky note.

Then

VOTE FOR NEWT. HE CAN FIX IT. www.newt.org

Here are links for prices today and January 2009:

Over in the Newt2012 War Room we have several docs with the labels. Use that account that I created, click on the “my avery” link on the top right of the page - then go to the left and click on “My saved projects” and scroll to the bottom of the page. there are 6 separate labels saved which if you click “apply” you can enter the number of the avery label, or card, that you want to use and print that label on the one you want.

FYI, when you enter the account info the first time, it may tell you incorrect password. Ignore it and look for that my avery link on the top right hand corner of the page.

This is a great and fairly inexpensive way to get Newt’s message across. Walmart has packs of Avery business cards for less than $5. Print ‘em up, and just leave ...’em around! I’ll be adding more “backs” ASAP.

I do not believe that the GOP will put Newt up against Obama. How many times have we seen that someone, other than who the people really wanted, be put on the ticket against the opposition? McCain comes to mind here.
