Attack by Limbaugh Awakens a ‘Stop Rush’ Campaign
NYT ^ | 3/2/12 | BRIAN STELTER

Posted on 03/03/2012 10:37:06 PM PST by Nachum

Actually, they are remobilizing. A Twitter account, “Stop Rush,” which has been dormant since late 2010, woke up on Wednesday, when Mr. Limbaugh first called the student, Sandra Fluke, a “slut.”

On Friday, as complaints from “Stop Rush” and others about Mr. Limbaugh’s comments mounted, a handful of companies said that they had halted their advertising on “The Rush Limbaugh Show,” at least temporarily.

One of the companies, Quicken Loans, wrote on Twitter, “Due to continued inflammatory comments — along with valuable feedback from clients and team members — QL has suspended ads on Rush Limbaugh program.”

Two mattress companies, Sleep Train and Sleep Number, made similar statements on Friday. A representative of Sleep Number wrote on Twitter, “Recent comments by Rush Limbaugh do not align w/ our values, so we made decision to immediately suspend all advertising on that program.”

Mr. Limbaugh’s comments on Wednesday about Ms. Fluke, who had testified in support of the Obama administration’s requirement that health insurance plans cover contraceptives for women, were immediately noticed by Media Matters, a liberal media monitoring group that has been raising red flags about Mr. Limbaugh’s language for years.

Even if EVERY single advertiser dropped Rush, he would still have a loooonnnggg line of advertisers begging to get on his list.

These whiners don't have any idea what they are up against.

I find other ways to “fight” them, like charging them more for my services.

I do the same. And...I won't ever hire one knowingly either.

If it's jobs they want they can go to their own kind.

Thanks, I went through and blocked all the libs. I like FB because of closed groups which are private / invite only.

If I don't know the person well or they are an Obama race pimp, I blocked them.

Screw them. This is their tactic for 2012. You criticize zero, they label you a racist.

“”What does it say about the college co-ed Susan Fluke [sic] who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex — what does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute.”

Rush would have had a similar effect, but with reduced blowback, if he had omitted the last two sentences. Then again, I could never do Rush's job, and could never think on the fly, live, for three hours a day without making a goof.

Wait a minute here... The New York Times just ADMITTED here that Media Matters is a liberal media monitoring group! I thought Media Matters, by law, can only be permitted to be a tax-exempt organization (which it currently is) if it’s non-political???

Wrong. of course rush stepped in it. The subject has been changed from an insurance policy debate to rush’s name calling. Rush blew it. He has allowed them an opening to change the subject of the debate.

I thank both of you for your input. I’m sure I ought to take backing up more seriously. I have never had a catastrophic crash but I know it’s just a millisecond away at any given time. Free storage sounds good. I like free.

I think Rush wanted to get this out of the headlines because we have an election in process that will change this country.

Let it die.

That’s the problem. Conservatives do not fight. Did any conservative entities organize a massive email/phone campaign to deluge these sponsors in favor of Rush and his statements to counter the left’s attack? No. Are there any such conservative outfits that mobilize millions (or even thousands) of conservatives to fight? Hmmmmmmm... none come to mind.

Actually, an e-mail/phone campaign was organized right here on Free Republic yesterday urging everyone to contact Rush’s advertisers and voice their support for him. You can read the thread here, which was posted on the “Breaking News” and “Front Page” sections:

Yeah, I figured it was a Media Matters operation. Well, I’ve never believed that the Left was anything but an enemy. Don’t forget to listen to Rush tomorrow.

They can always buy ads on Air America. Oh wait. They no longer exist, and I bet they said far worse this about women more often, without a peep from the NYTimes or Media Matters.

“The first thing to recognize is the extent to which they operate off other people’s money. They is their vulnerability”

You should repeat this post often—it is important that people focus on a few critical goals in the fight for freedom. First is to diminish their flow of funding. Identify the supporters and put on the public pressure. Second, information is the fuel, not money—money is only useful to the extent it can generate and control the information that people receive. There must be multiple information sources that share information about freedom. Currently, nearly all information sources are controlled by socialists. That culture took years to create and it has to be turned around—education and children are important to this goal.

The reason is that socialists have learned how to exert control over money. Look at Rush's current situation. He has made himself vulnerable to Leftist attacks, and the form the attacks take is complaints to advertisers.

Advertisers mostly want to make money. Controversy that inspires customer boycotts is something they don't want. They shy away from advertising in venues that generate unwelcome controversy. As long as the Left is good at generating controversy against conservative media, they will be able to cripple dissent.

LAw making is less important that stupid law preventing, this is what should be on people’s minds.

There is nothing worse than Obamanesque comformism and automatic laws such as automatic withholding of taxes.

That’s where it should start, we hold the purse strings and they should be made aware of that.

As for Limbaugh, his comment was less insulting and more healthy than nutcase whore Fluke of life bimbo.
