Posted on 03/03/2012 2:15:11 PM PST by TSgt
For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.
I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.
My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.
“And now we all know the real reason why there is no discussion about the eligibility issue or the ballot challenges.”
Right on, right on, right on. I’m glad I’m not the only one
who have noticed him skirting around some of the more
important and damning issues.
Such a valid point.
Ping me when he mentions Joe Arpaio’s report.
But he didn’t.
I’m not going to be able to give you twenty years of public relation experience in a board post.
You don’t have to believe me. All you have to do is wait....
“Why don’t you just call a slut a slut, robrose?”
Two reasons: 1) I don’t know the first thing about her beyond what I read in the transcript of her testimony and she revealed nothing of her personal life and 2) my upbringing taught me to treat people with more respect than that.
Why do you think it is appropriate to sink to name-calling instead of dealing with the debate with a more fact-based approach?
>> drugaddict; fatass; married2awhore; oxycontin;
I wonder which jackass added these keywords.
We need to stop being distracted and start concentrating on announcing Obama’s failures and his attacks on America repeatedly.
“I see something else coming out of this. Rush will somehow turn this into a bigger deal and well all be laughing about this in a week.”
God, I hope your right. Being mad at someone you hate is
easy but when it’s someone you respect and admire, then
it’s not so easy.
From where I sit it sounds like I hit a little too close to home for your liking.
Well then why don't you tell us what you did mean when you suggested that, "He really hasn't had much time to research the press conference."
He certainly had more time than when he comments on a State of the Union speech. What did you mean?
Still, that's the beauty of an advertising-supported, free-market business. Lowry Mays, founder of Clear Channel, said it best in this 2003 Fortune article:
"We're not in the business of providing news and information. We're not in the business of providing well-researched music. We're simply in the business of selling our customers products."
Fair enough. He could have made his point - which was a valid one - in a less personal way.
I agree. There’s a lot of armchair quarterbacking of someone who is a lot smarter, braver, and tenacious than I’ll ever be.
I went back and read the testimony.
About all you can infer from it is:
1) She’s a law student.
2) Some female law students can spend as much as $3000/3 years for birth control
3) Some women need the birth control to treat maladies (sp?) such as endometriosis, etc.
4) She had a good friend that had a cyst on her ovary b/c her birth control was not covered ($100/month) and her ovary had to be removed and she may go into early menopause and not be able to give her mother the grandkids she desires and that it is Georgetown’s fault that this is so.
Is Sandra Fluke a “slut”? Maybe, maybe not. No clear linkage can be drawn either way. An indirect link can be drawn as I have indicated above.
Is Sandra Fluke dishonest? I’d say so. Trying to induce collective guilt for her friend with the ovarian cyst certainly indicates that to me.
Your contention that Rush’s accusation - “that she wants, and says she NEEDS, $1000/year for birth control” was NOT part of her testimony.
The object lesson here is to hang people on the words they actually said, not what someone else says they say.
Re: your statement that “If someone NEEDS sex 1,000+ times a year, what are they?” presumes $1.00/birth control/horizontal bop which I think remains to be shown. ‘Pod.
>> IMHO Rush himself has sold out and capitulated himself into the theater of the bizarre for the sake of sponsorship and the almighty dollar.
Do you know with certainty what compelled the apology?
Thanks Rush, for making me look like a complete idiot. I appreciate it.
And I won't forget it.
I started listening to him when he was local in Sacramento, and on and off for quite a few years. Haven’t heard him more than a few times since I moved to a fairly remote place and can’t get a good signal, but I have no interest anyway. I hate football, cigars, hearing him talk about himself, ads and he never mentions anything connected with Constitutional issues. Our country is on the verge of collapse and a silent coup and he apologizes to someone who makes sluts look like saints.
That one's so obviously a n00b troll provocateur . . .
