Saying that other countries are doubling down on education while the states are cutting teachers, President Obama on Monday implored the nation's governors to spend their budgets on education and job training.

"Too many states are making cuts that I think are too big," the president told the National Governors Association, which was spending the last day of its annual meeting at the White House.

"Budgets are by choice, so today I'm calling on all of you: invest more in education, invest more in our children," he said.

Obama said students should be required to stay in school longer -- only 21 states require students to stay in high school until they graduate or until they are 18.

"Twenty-one states (require...

Which countries are "doubling down on education" while trying to avoid bankruptcy?

Is our president aware of how much the US already spends on public education alone?

Obama’s remarks are very typical liberal remarks. It’s always easy to tell others how to spend THEIR taxpayers’ money. The U.S. already outspends other countries on education. Pouring more dollars into the system doesn’t mean it will automatically create better results.

Spending on education is normally a good thing.

Spending on the NEA and it’s ill-educated marshmallow majors is not.

After all, look at the dim bulb we have as president...and he’s supposedly highly educated.

Anyone who spent time in school, who thinks that school is generally worthwhile, is a testament to the power of school.

If these kids knew how much money they will owe the federal government they’d figure out rather quickly it’s easier to stay out of school, stay stupid, live a life of sponging from others and avoid paying taxes.

Never mind, it’s already happened.

States haven’t spent money on education, real education, in years as far as I can tell. Likewise for the Feds.

sounds good but the obozo’s destructive economic policies demonstrably show he could give a hoot about the children in this country. By the obozo now attempting to play the “support education” card he is seruptitutiouly telling the states to divert their public funding away from other programs such as medical care for the poor and illegals so it will fuel the public need for his obozo care. I could be wrong but he’s pulling something here. It’s an underclass vote getter for him either way.

” - - - “Too many states are making cuts that I think are too big,”

Uh, unlike the Federal Government, the States can’t print more money to cover their overspending.

Obama, you have no idea of the huge meat axe cuts that are coming to your stupid Obamanation.

If people were actually educated in government schools, the rats would be in serious trouble. Obama wants states to spend money on the public education system which has very little to do with education.
