No deflection meant or attempted, svcw. That’s just more shadow boxing you’re engaging in.
If you want to go there, then you better include Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, Church of Christ, Lutheran, Amish, etc., etc. (almost any religious denomination) in your definition. I’ve seen people shunned in many denominations in my 56 years because they left their church...or married outside of it, etc..
So, sure, some people shunm others because they leave the “faith.” As I said, it happens in all religions. Families do it, former friends do it, etc.
It does not make it right, it does not make it Christ-like, and it certainly does not say anything about the broader population of those denominations any more than it does about the LDS. Most good people in all of them...and that is the majority of people in all of them...do not do so.
As I said...you ought to give it a rest. With all due respect, there’s really not a bad Mormon boogey-man hiding under every rock..
Good job, answering statements not presented.
This thread is about Rubio’s family walking away from mormonISM, I say good for them.
You want to defend shunning of members who leave by trying to change to subject, go ahead, it shows you have learned your lessons well.
There is a big different between Christanity that has been here for 2000 years and a cult that was started 187 years ago. People better start talking about mormon beliefs because obama WILL What happens when obama tells people (how many Christians/Catholics are in this country?) that mormons believe Jesus is satans brother or that they think they are a lessor god and will become a greater god on there own planet. He will have hollywood writing about this and snl doing cornhead skits again of romney on his planet. That is just a few of the things they believe. I think we have to talk about this and not silence people. If mormons are so sure of there beliefs why do so many want to call themselves christians or try to hide or deny what they believe. If they want to deny it, obama won’t let them.
You must live an unusual life to have witnessed so many shunnings from so many various Christian denominations, most of us have never seen a single "shunning" from a Christian denomination.
Many, or even most non-Mormons married outside of their own denomination for instance, and we never even heard of "shunning" until we read about Mormons.
Ive seen people shunned in many denominations in my 56 years because they left their church...or married outside of it, etc..

More lies/spin from the Mormon brigade. I know of no Christian who was shunned for leaving a particular church. I have left Christian churches and still maintained positive relationships with the members of that Church. No biggie we still see each other as brothers/sisters in Christ.
However, I was shunned, lost my job, housing, fiance, and friends, accused of sin and CRIME when I left Mormonism by other Mormons and most ex-mormons say the same thing.
Almost every Mormon I know who left has been shunned and worse.
Jeff; you just might consider going over to the FUNDAMENTALISTS...
"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned;
and I will go still further and say, take this revelation, or any other revelation that the Lord has given,
and deny it in your feelings, and I promise that you will be damned.

“Ive seen people shunned in many denominations in my 56 years because they left their church...or married outside of it, etc..”
The Amish are the only Christian denomination I know of that practice shunning... and I’ve been in many churches in many cities across the US.
Mormons routinely ostracize, impugn the character of and spread rumors about those who leave. Ask any of the mormons here who left the LDS corp and became Christians.
