Santorum 2008: America is under attack from Satan

Top story on Drudge as I write this. And to think, some people accuse him of being pro-Romney.

“Satan has his sights on the United States of America!” Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum has declared.

“Satan is attacking the great institutions of America, using those great vices of pride, vanity, and sensuality as the root to attack all of the strong plants that has so deeply rooted in the American tradition.”…

“This is a spiritual war. And the Father of Lies has his sights on what you would think the Father of Lies would have his sights on: a good, decent, powerful, influential country – the United States of America. If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age?”

“He attacks all of us and he attacks all of our institutions.”

Rush Limbaugh defended him half-heartedly on his show today, noting that the media thought it was cutesy-poo when evil clown Hugo Chavez compared Bush to the devil a few years ago but conceding that Santorum will “have to deal with it. He’ll have to answer it. I don’t know. It’s just not the kind of stuff you hear a presidential candidate talk about.” At the Post, John Podhoretz wonders if the best replacement for a president who sometimes seems to look down on Americans is … a president who sometimes seems to look down on Americans:

I’m part of a generation that could only afford 2-3 kids...if not birth control was available most likely I would be using more government services to pay for the extras.

What generation was that?

I grew up in a generation of plenty as compared to that of my parents and their generation who all had quivers of children. When in American history was there a generation that could not afford more than 2-3 kids?

BTW, Do you consider Abortion as a legitimate method of Birth Control?

Good question: Which generation was it that could only afford 2-3 kids.

This one has 2-3 cars, 1500-3000 sq ft houses, ipads, cell phones, laptops, food, clothing, tv’s, mp3s, xboxes, and the list goes on.

But, they can squeeze in only 2-3 kids amidst all that poverty. Riiiiiiight.

“has the country become so secular that any sign of religiosity will scare off a majority of voters”?

An excellent point. Is Florida too secular for a guy like Santorum these days? I think it might be.

Does a country ever swing “back” from secularism?

Perhaps mormons don’t believe in satan and they think this is absurd?

Actually, I think Mormons believe that Satan is Jesus' brother, born of the same Father.

Yes

Communism collapsed in the former USSR and Evangelical Christians have been growing in numbers in Russia. China is still communist but the govt has not been able to stop the growth of Christianity there. It seems that that there is a long process where a country embraces an all powerful State and becomes secular in the process. Then the society begins to collapse and near the bottom the people turn back to God.

We are seeing Europe heading down this road. Increasingly the populous expects govt to provide everything and the nations are becoming more secular. Also their economies are collapsing and their birth rates are so low that their population is declining. We are on the same road, just not as far down it as they are.

Thanks. You’re right, now I remember reading that. Amazing how some fall so easily to demonic teachings.
