Rick Santorum's view of government - and economics - is from below, with the family as the first government and the first economy. All other government must assist and not usurp its primary role. It must proceed from the bottom up. This is about more than "limited government", though it certainly is that. This is about good government. Can government be good? Yes,when freedom flourishes. Good in the sense of efficient, deferring to mediating structures first - and good in the sense of recognizing the moral foundation needed for a truly free society.

On the so-called “fairness” issue: what is “fair” about your working hard to earn a paycheck, and then to have millionaire politicians in Washington, D. C., decide how much they are going to “take” from you in order to buy votes of other citizens by promising to “redistribute” your earnings to those citizens?

As near as I can tell, Hussein’s view of freedom is that it needs to be extinguished. That’s certainly his view of liberty.

Freedom for the people or freedom for Obama to do WTF he wants to.

Santorum has his priorities in order. Bottom up economics indeed.

Btw, just in:

Nate Silver @fivethirtyeight Reply Retweet Favorite · Open
Our forecast model now has Santorum up ~5 in Michigan. That works out to a 72% chance of winning. nyti.ms/ygLshq

Romney is toast in his birth state.

Here’s my hotair comment I just did:

Santorum is unhesitant, and unabashed in going after O.

Santorum is saying exactly, specifically what we want hear. Like about how localities should control schools, not the feds. And on global warming, and enviro-extremism. Even on prenatal testing on CBS this morning he came off sounding strong, not extreme. And he’s bringing it to Obama on O’s extremism on abortion (as partial birth and live birth etc) / Mitt can’t or won’t do that. It’s a winner for the election! Santorum is bringing on the anti-Obama rhetoric hard, and effectively, every day. Mitt, and Newt for most of that matter, is providing mush. Seriously.
Rally now for Santorum! And support and defend him against the oncoming onslaught of overblown and unjustified attacks. He’s bringing the knife to that knife fight that we want, and -need- to fire up the base, gain huge donations $$, and… win!

Populists? Neither Obama nor Santorum are populists. Obama is an elist effinite snob and was elected by the masses because he is a black democrat promising goodies. Santorum is focused on social issues, preaches to the choir and has little mass appeal. Neither does Newt either BTW although Newt is quite smart and compelling. so we’ll see how Newt does with the masses later if he even gets the chance

Most of Sen. Santorum’s ideas line up with mine, and they have since ‘94, in his first Senate campaign when I worked for him. The man is a human dynamo, and he is as genuine and gracious in person as any politician I’ve ever met. Bob

He might make those claims but that's not born out but his own actions.

People admire him for the homeschooling of his children but he took $72,000 from a Pennsylvania school district for it while the family actually lived in Virginia while the Senate was in session.

It's just one of the issues that gave him that 18 point loss in 2006.

santorum questioned obama’s theological adherence to environmentalism and the idiots on chris matthews show twisted it to question his christianity... ugh...

the people will back santorum for no other reason than he is subject to attacks from the idiots in the media.
