That must mean Hillary is due some back pay for her service as First Lady then.

When the government really needs to cut spending, they start talking about finding the infamous "waste, fraud, and abuse".
And then they go and cut this? They couldn't find anything better to cut?

I can see the time cards now. Next it will be the amount of firing against the soldier, what type of firing, and if it was friendly fire or not. What a farce.

So, if a FOB is mortared, does everyone on the FOB get combat pay? Is it only for that month? Or is pro-rated to number of days of enemy contact? Since enemy contact typically doesn’t last more than a few seconds (IEDs, rockets, mortars), can they pro-rate it to those seconds? That would save some money right there.
Now, let’s talk about increasing welfare payments...

Doesn’t matter. All our guys have to do is to take turns saying “ I see something move” at the perimeter. Instant firefight.

Obama truly is the A$$hole president.
This act of denying service men combat pay unless they’re shot at is dispicable. Our military put their lives on the line by being there. They receive little enough pay for what they do. Denying them this small amount of money for their families is the work of a demented person without honor.

So I guess Obama doesn’t consider getting blown up by an IED actual combat?

Another outrage from the Obama Regime! As in Vietnam, the concept of "front lines" is irrelevant. All who have boots on the ground in Afghan are serving in a combat role. There is no "rear echelon" in a war where the enemy uses IED's and so-called "suicide bombers" at any time, anywhere in the theatre.
Combat pay is a portion of the Defense budget that is,or should be, awarded to any of our troops who are placed in harm's way in a theatre of combat, whether they are fired upon or not.
If the Obama Regime wants to save a few nickels, let it pursue some of the rampant welfare fraud and bloated social programs that do nothing other than suck tax dollars out of the hard-working middle class that keeps our economy going.
Etiam non princeps sed usque ad genua, Principis Pacis!
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Plenty of money for cell phones, bankrupt car companies, failing banks, phoney green energy jobs that disappear, and cowboy poetry festivals but he’s cutting combat pay. He’s about as low as you can get.

IIRC, Slick Willy had tried something similar with combat pay and the award of CIBs and combat patches to personnel in Somalia prior to October '93, refusing to admit that our personnel were involved in any combat.
After October 3rd that year, it became impossible to deny.
