GOP Senate leader expects 3 recalls to proceed

The Republican leader of the state Senate said Friday he expects recall elections to proceed against three of his colleagues, despite challenges they made to thousands of signatures on petitions seeking their ouster from office.

Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said he is hopeful, though, that his election can be blocked through the challenges he made to the Government Accountability Board on Thursday. As for the others, Fitzgerald said, "They're not even close."

Fitzgerald was the only one of the four who clearly challenged more than enough signatures to void an election. But whether to reject the signatures is up to the GAB. Its deadline for deciding is March 19.

The other senators are Pam Galloway, of Wausau, Terry Moulton, of Chippewa Falls, and Van Wanggaard, of Racine.

Zac Kramer, head of the group attempting to elect Democrats in the Senate, predicted Friday that all four elections would proceed. A cursory review of the signatures the senators challenged shows they haven't met the threshold to prevent the elections, he said.

Petition circulators have until Tuesday to make their own counter-arguments.

All four senators asserted that new legislative boundaries should have been in effect for the petition circulation period and any elections. The GAB has said those boundaries don't take effect until the fall elections. The issue is also part of three ongoing lawsuits.

Sure, I've found the only way a Democrat can get ahead is to lie, cheat or steal. They're incapable of telling the truth, because if they did they'd loose a majority of their voting base (blacks/hispanics) and they'd be stuck with just the socialist/communist.
