SOMERS, WI (WISN/CNN) It is said that "no good deeds goes unpunished," and that seems to be true for a 75-year-old Wisconsin man who fought of carjackers in his driveway after doing them a favor.
Army veteran Alex Weber's kindness nearly cost him his car after he said a man and a woman asked for his help.
"A woman got out of the car and said, Hey we're out of gas,' and I said OK, I don't have any here but I'll get you some," Weber said.
Weber said he took the man and woman for a ride to a nearby Kwik Trip and then drove back to his home in Somers to fill the tank. On the way home, Weber said the man tried to attack him with a tire iron, while yelling for the woman to get the keys.
"All at once I see this tire iron come over my head. I just dropped the gas and grabbed the rod," Weber said.
Weber kept the keys and his cool and ran towards his house to call the police. His assailants took off for Walmart where deputies spotted their car and found them inside.

You’re never too old for a concealed carry permit, get yours today!
A handgun will do you no good if you don’t have the situational awareness to avoid, evade, or block and counter the first attack - like this guy did.

Thank God he was able to fight off these jerks.
“Well, honey, that didn’t work out so good. What should we do now?”
“Uh, dunno. .... Oh! I’ve got an idea. Let’s go to Walmart!”
It was pure luck this guy was able to avoid, evade, or block and counter the first attack, mixed with a generous amount of criminal ineptness.
I am all for and practice Concealed Carry, but avoiding getting into such a situation is better than relying on luck or criminal ineptness to save one’s ass. As my GrandDad used to say, “use your head for more than a hatrack”.
If someone looks like they need help, call 911 and tell the operator someone looks to be needing assistance.
These days everyone has a cellphone, if they approach you “needing something” it is most likely a setup.
I got my WI concealed carry license today.
Celebrating!
congrats!
Thank you!
I am going to do a vanity in the near future asking for favorite concealed guns of Freepers. All mine are too big except for use with my shoulder holster (and they all fell in the lake anyway).
PS-do you know who holds the “banglist” ping list?
If you want to post something about guns, concealed carry, self-defense, 2nd amendment issues, etc. just put banglist under the keywords There have been several "favorite concealed carry pistol" threads over the years.
Thanks, I’ll do that.
I love those “what’s your favorite” gun threads.
Always fun and no shortage of opinions!
