Syrian forces bombard rebel city of Homs: activists

Syrian forces bombarded Homs on Monday, killing 50 people in a sustained assault on several districts of the city which has become a centre of armed opposition to President Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian National Council opposition group said.

The bombardment came a day after the United States promised harsher sanctions against Damascus in response to Russian and Chinese vetoes of a draft U.N. resolution that would have backed an Arab plan urging Assad to step aside.

I heard the rebels shouting “allahu ahkbar” on the radio this morning as they shot off their guns. Do decent people yell that, or is that something only muslim terrorists shout? I ask sincerely. If we favor the “rebels,” are we favoring terrorists (again)?

The majority sunni muslim population of Syria are viciously pro-al Qaeda and support terrorism against America. I support the Syrian government fighting back against an internal rebellion. This, like Libya, is none of America’s business and we should stay out of it. There are never any “good guys” in muslim countries. It is one group of savages vs. another group of savages. In Syria, it’s the alawite-lead government vs. sunni population. Tribal/inter-religious nonsense.
