Liam Neeson: I may become a Muslim Catholic movie star is thinking about changing faith
The Sun ^ | 1-25-2012 | PETE SAMSON

HOLLYWOOD star Liam Neeson is considering giving up his Catholic belief and becoming a Muslim.

The actor, 59, admitted Islamic prayer "got into his spirit" while filming in Turkish city Istanbul.

He said: "The Call to Prayer happens five times a day and for the first week it drives you crazy, and then it just gets into your spirit and it's the most beautiful, beautiful thing.

"There are 4,000 mosques in the city. Some are just stunning and it really makes me think about becoming a Muslim."

Liam was raised in Northern Ireland as a devout Catholic and altar boy and was named after the local priest.

But the star — whose wife Natasha Richardson died aged 45 in a skiing accident in 2009 — has spoken about challenges to his faith.

He said: "I was reared a Catholic but I think every day we ask ourselves, not consciously, what are we doing on this planet? What's it all about?

"I'm constantly reading books on God or the absence of God and atheism."

Liam was criticised in 2010 after claiming Narnia lion Aslan — voiced by him in the movies — is not based on Christ as CS Lewis had claimed but in fact all spiritual leaders including Mohammed.

His latest film The Grey, about an oil drilling team who crash in freezing Alaska, is released in the UK on Friday.

"I like the beat and its easy to dance to!"

Great reason to risk your eternal salvation.

Neeson

He won't be the first, or the last, to commit spiritual suicide.

There are no more enduring and amazing buildings than the great pyramids.

Does that mean it’s time to cast aside all Truth and start worshiping Ra, Osiris, Isis, and Horus?

What a silly, fatuous way to choose one’s faith! LOL!

Perhaps he could visit the Sistine Chapel - Catholics have some nice buildings too. Or he could look at the works of modern Catholics, such as Mother Teresa, and the works from the other side. Although if he is choosing a faith more casually than he chooses a restaurant, then he's not much of a Christian today.

He just discovered light sabers don’t actually exist and is in shock.

“The Call to Prayer happens five times a day and for the first week it drives you crazy, and then it just gets into your HEAD and controls every aspect of your life. You become a mind-numbed puppet. At the beck and call of your evil puppetmasters.

Why is it that only men want to convert to muslim? I’ve never read about any women wanting it. Can’t see why any woman would fall in love with such vermin.

Must be a ‘control’ thang.
You can stone or abuse your mate.
You can kill and say it was an ‘honor’ thang.

Even tho some of them are of Irish descent, they’re not actually representative of Irish Irish. Most of those in America are liberals first, Catholics second; and those in Ireland are socialist first, second, third, and Catholic fourth (if that). They’d really rather be European, thank you. And good luck with that.

WIKI - The Sun gained a reputation for running stories based on few facts. The most blatant example gave the paper one of its best remembered on 13 March 1986: “FREDDIE STARR ATE MY HAMSTER”. The story alleged that British comedian Freddie Starr had been staying at the home of Vince McCaffrey and his 23-year old girlfriend Lea La Salle in Birchwood, Cheshire, when, after returning from a performance at a nightclub in the early hours he demanded La Salle make him a sandwich. When she refused, he went into the kitchen, put her pet hamster Supersonic between two slices of bread and proceeded to eat it. Starr, in his 2001 autobiography Unwrapped, said he only stayed at McCaffrey’s house once, in 1979, and that the incident was a complete fabrication. He wrote: “I have never eaten or even nibbled a live hamster, gerbil, guinea pig, mouse, shrew, vole or any other small mammal.”[33] When the man behind the story, British publicist Max Clifford, was asked about it on television years later, he admitted to making it up and justified the lie as it boosted Starr’s career enormously.

The Sun falsely accused homosexual pop musician Elton John of having sexual relationships with rent boys. In another story it accused him of removing the voice boxes of his guard dogs because their barking kept him awake. Elton sued over both stories and won £1 million in libel damages.

I agree. His movie output has also increased since her death as though he is burying his grief in work. I hope he finds consolation.

Hey Liam if you want to follow a religion that was invented 650 years after Christ and throws out all his peaceful teachings, go ahead and throw your soul away.

That will make “Taken II” a very short movie.

Daughter: “Daddy, I’m going on a vacation with a friend”

Liam: “You westernized whore! I kill you!”

Whips out knife, stabs daughter.

So you think Neeson was kidding?

Was he kidding when he said “Aslan should not be interpreted narrowly and exclusively as an allegory of Jesus Christ. Aslan might also be seen as representing other religious leaders, such as Mohammed or Buddha.”

C.S. Lewis’ devoted secretary, Walter Hooper, said Lewis’ work “has nothing whatever to do with Islam. The whole story is about Christ. Lewis could not have been clearer.”

Any idiot knows this.

There are lots of women who choose to convert, of course it only happens in western countries. In muslim countries they are just forced to marry a muslim and forced to convert.

If you can understand the subtle gallow humour of the Scots and Irish, you’d know that was actually pretty funny.

“One of the problems I have with celebrities is that they are always goofing around with some silly **** to impress their friends and their fans.”

Absolutely.

But worse than their fickle, ignorant, hipness is the fact that we have to HEAR about it.

I find my plumber to be a more intersting guy than ANY actor. At least he has talent.
