Pelosi Vows to Stand W. Obama Against Catholic Church; Says Decision...Was 'Very Courageous'
CNS News ^ | 02/02/2012 | Thomas Cloud

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) vowed today that she will join with the Obama administration in standing up against the Catholic Church in defending a new regulation that will require Catholic individuals to buy, and Catholic institutions to provide, health insurance plans that cover sterilizations and artificial contraceptives, including those that induce abortions....

At her Wednesday press briefing, CNSNews.com asked Pelosi: "The administration has issued a regulation that will require all health-care plans to cover sterilization and all FDA-approved contraceptives, including those that induce abortions. This would force Catholic individuals and institutions to act against their consciences. All across the nation, Catholic bishops are saying-"

Pelosi responded: "Is this a speech, or do we have a question in disguise as a speech?"

CNSNews.com continued..."Catholic bishops are saying they will not comply with this law. Will you stand with your fellow Catholics in resisting this law or will you stick by the administration?"

Pelosi: "First of all, I am going to stick with my fellow Catholics in supporting the administration on this. I think it was a very courageous decision that they made, and I support it."

“But, I think EVERYTHING he has done has been incredibly dumb!”

And yet, he’s likely to win re-election. So, who is dumb, Obama, or the electorate?

However, we do have to consider that the GOP has done it’s part. The only way they could have made it easier is to forfeit and not run anyone.

“...Pi$$ing off several million Catholics is NOT a good idea!!...”

A few million Catholics are partly responsible for what we’ve had the last three years. Hope they’ve wised up.

So are a few million American Jews, Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists, Episcopalians, Anglicans and any other religion that I have left out. But, I agree with your last sentence, I, too, hope they've wised up.

IMO, zero will be re-elected if Romney becomes the nominee. I wouldn't plan on a second Obama term, just yet. A LOT of things are happening (besides idiot Republicans beating each other up on the campaign trail) and there is a long way to go to November.

Former Catholic, or protestant,

No, she's not protestant. The protestants are a bunch of heretics, but even they don't deserve to be saddled with Nazi Pelousy.

Pelousy is apostate and pagan, and worships the god of death.

. . . . but lets face it most Catholics are just Dems, they never follow their faith in the north east at all but then proudly call themselves Catholic.

So are most American Jews, and we KNOW how zero feels about Israel and Jews and, yet, they also turned out in droves to vote for him!

With respect to the GOP, they have ticked off so many former Republicans (myself included), that they are about to become a non-entity. I won't vote for or support a "Republican", I'm all about the Tea Party. The Tea Party made great inroads in Congress on '10 and the Republican establishment there tried to derail them and there mission. IMO, the TEA Party members will grow in Congress this coming election and, if we can get enough in the House and Senate, we may have enough to stop zero IF he should luck out (or cheat with enough fraudulent votes!). After that, he'll only be able to operate via EO and that will only get him so far.

??.... Don't you get it?

I "got it" long before he was elected. I still "get it" and understand who zero is, what he "believes in" and what he wants to do to America.

There is a discussion group on the WSJ about a court ruling on Sharia law, the court ruled that it was discriminatory not allow Sharia Law in the court system.

People were wondering why the court would ever make such a ruling, knowing that it would go to higher courts to be decided.

My guess is that the Obama administration is planning to attack the Catholic stand on birth control (abortion) and the relationship to Federal law as being the same as or similar to Sharia Law in the court system.

Pelosi is preparing Catholics for this position. Notice that they insinuate that the anti-abortion position is a Catholic edict, not a personal moral position.

Mark my words, I’m not wrong on this. When I posted this on the WSJ board, I didn’t get a single response. That can only mean that people know that I am right. This is not just about Planned Parenthood Funding, this about Obamacare and Catholic hospitals, about abortion and assisted suicide.

HERE is a link to the WSJ discussion board.

Does banning courts applying Sharia law infringe on religious freedom? The question is in regard to a ruling in OK appeals court that declared a law banning Sharia Law to be unconstitutional.

It is my contention that the ruling is intended to throw the question to the Supreme Court where it will be expanded to include the relationship of religion to the legal system, including the Catholic position on abortion and assisted suicide.

What I am wondering is whether the exclusion of abortion funding is based on a freedom of religion, or is it a moral issue?

Have we boxed ourselves into a corner by depicting the right to life as a religious issue? ...or have we?

I don’t know the law on this, at all.
