Actully, in a Dec 6, 2011 interview with Glenn Beck he stated that he supports a “variation” of the individual mandate. He suggests that people be required to buy health insurance or post a bond to cover their care. He likens it to what states require for auto insurance. Problem for me is, what happens if someone refuses to buy insurance or post a bond? Seems the only solution the government would come up with is imposing a fee or penalty of some kind, because I doubt they’ll just overlook it, and we’re right back to an Obamacare scenario.

Even if Newt wants this kind of plan (and it is constitutionally dubious, a matter that the USSC is hearing now) this does not seem to be like the Obamacare parallel at all, which would be like requiring auto insurance that changes your oil, overhauls your engine, etc.
