It’s over. If Gingrich can’t win a major state like Florida, he won’t win the nomination. And I voted for Gingrich.
I hope not. But, if Romney wins the primary, Obama likely wins the general.
It is NOT over, Alma. Not by long stretch.
This was a winner take all state. The next primaries are proportional ... Newt can run up delegates as fast as Mitt.
If Santorum drops out, that could shake things up. If Newt changes his game any, that could change things up. Newt is up nationally and up with high margins in some states.
This is an ETERNITY in politics until the nomination!!
Gingrich is not leaving the race.
A candidate needs over 1000 delegates and Romney has about 75, there is a long way to go.
Not so, read post 14.
Might as well throw in the minor states too: In Nevada, we're a caucus state and Romney will flat out destroy Gingrich here if it ever gets that far. Ron Paul may even beat them all.
A poll showed 51% of Florida Republicans described themselves as Moderates. Only 29% say they are Conservative......this was Willard's state all along.
Newt won big among Conservatives 45% to Ricks 23%, to Paul's 13% and Romney’s 11%
Wait until we get to the states where 50% + of the Republican electorate is Conservative (the south, OH, WY, ID, MT UT, KS, NE, ND, SD, and even PA and OH). Romney wil drop faster than a stone in a well.
Pick your self back up and FIGHT! Don't let the condescending prick ORomney win.
GO NEWT!
Don't get too discouraged; Newt still has a very real chance at winning the nomination, or at the very least taking it to the floor of the Convention.
Super Tuesday is still six weeks away (March 6), so I won't start getting worried until after that date. Between now and then we have votes in Nevada, Maine, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Arizona, Michigan, and Washington. Then on Super Tuesday, we have votes in Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, Massachusetts, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Vermont, and Virginia, with Wyoming holding their caucus from March 6-11.
Oh for heaven’s sake - it’s only one state. There are 46 more to go and Newt will win many of those.
It is not over. In 1976 Reagan didn't start winning till N. Carolina. He came within a handful of votes of winning. Newt has already won S. Carolina. He needs to get back on message. Economic growth, reduce debt, anti Obama.
He spent too much time on defense. Let the Super Pacs handle the negative stuff. When unfairly accused, explain it once quickly, then laugh it off kinda like Reagan, there they go again with the inaccurate statements, and pivot to get to the message.
Over? Newt is the honey badger. He doesn’t care.
Pure, unadulterated BS! There’s 46 states to go and you’ve surrendered. Way to win a war!
“Its over. If Gingrich cant win a major state like Florida, he wont win the nomination.”
Nonsense. Tis but a scratch.

“It’s not over till it’s over.” YB
You are comparing apples and oranges.
Romney has a clear path, but it’s not over. In the Obama - Clinton battle Hillary won most all the big states..and by HUGE margins. She walloped obama in Pennsylvania, which was at a very critical, juncture of the campaign. She won Florida. She won California. Romney’s biggest strength now is the open weaknesses of Newt. He has been severely damaged and vulnerable. I would bet on Romney at this stage, but I wouldn’t go all in yet.
Well I hope you dont mind if we carry the fight on for awhile longer.
What do you call South Carolina?
What other state or states is "major like FL?" The way I interpret your conclusion is either that that TX, PA, OH are not "major states like FL," or that in order to win, a candidate must take ALL the "major states like FL," so that losing one of them signals the entire race is over.
Lets not get crazy! Coke and New Coke are still a far cry from Sprite!
