They're buying the MSM/Republican Establishment lie that Romney is the only candidate that can beat Obama and Newt is unelectable. Funny thing is its the same lie the Republicans establishment used in 2008 to sell McCain. He was supposedly the only candidate that could appeal to moderates and beat the democrat challenger. You would think the base would learn after being burnt once, but I guess not. Maybe they will learn this time around after McCain v2.0 goes down in flames like McCain v1.0 did in 2008.

I think people see Romney playing dirty against Gingrich, and are hoping he will do the same to Obama.

I agree with you and it sure does not help to hear the local conservative radio hosts down here talking the same way. I heard it yesterday early in the morning that Newt is said to be someone who does not follow through and is unstable. That the public is nervous about voting for him. The host said it came from very credible sources. I sent him some information and never did hear back. We the public are not being very well served by many of these supposed conservative media!

It’s just SO ironic that the “halo” of electability has been built up & bestowed on Romney the last four years .... it is all an illusion ..... fake as Romney himself, and he will not beat Obama. No wonder Obama and thugs are licking their chops ..... as one FReeper put it, a “lighter shade of FAIL”. All things being equal, the incumbent will win. The sheeple who got stampeded by the GOP-e and Romney’s $$ are going to be in for a sad surprise come November .... not that they care.

It seems that the boring, milquetoast "electable" candidates never win.

But why? Is it really because they fail to distinguish themselves from the Democrat and don't excite the base? Or, is it simply because when "electability" is a concern, it's when we're running against an incumbent who has a good chance of winning no matter who is the GOP nominee? As I observe, it might actually be the latter.
